Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop and own a global public relations and reputation strategy that aligns with company vision, business priorities, investor relations, ESG goals and enterprise risk management — translating business objectives into measurable PR programs and priorities.
  • Lead media relations at the enterprise level: proactively cultivate and maintain strong relationships with national and international journalists, editors, trade press, broadcast producers and digital influencers to secure high-impact earned media coverage.
  • Serve as senior counsel to the CEO and C-suite on communications strategy, message framing, interview preparation, crisis posture and reputational risk — providing timely briefing materials, Q&A and media coaching.
  • Design, implement and run crisis communications planning and rapid-response protocols (including 24/7 readiness, command center processes and scenario-based playbooks), and lead communications during high-profile incidents to minimize reputational impact.
  • Create and institutionalize the corporate narrative, key messages and executive storylines for major campaigns, product launches, M&A activity, regulatory milestones and strategic announcements to ensure consistent brand voice across touchpoints.
  • Oversee development of high-value external content: press releases, executive speeches, op-eds, bylines, thought leadership, backgrounders, FAQs, media kits and award submissions that elevate the company’s positioning.
  • Own integrated communications for major corporate events—earnings calls, annual meetings, product unveilings, investor days, crisis briefings and industry conferences—coordinating media strategy, on-site logistics and executive visibility.
  • Lead reputation measurement: define KPIs, implement media monitoring, sentiment analysis, share-of-voice and outcomes-based metrics, and produce insights-driven reporting for the board and executive leadership to demonstrate PR ROI.
  • Direct social and digital public relations strategy to amplify earned media through owned channels, optimize executive social presence, manage influencer programs and align social listening with media intelligence.
  • Manage relationships with outside agencies, PR firms, media training consultants and specialty vendors; contract, brief and hold partners accountable to deliverables, budgets and performance targets.
  • Build and lead a high-performing PR and corporate communications team: recruit, mentor, set performance goals, drive career development and ensure succession for critical roles across regions.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance and regulatory affairs to ensure that external communications comply with legal requirements, stock exchange rules and disclosure obligations while protecting confidential information.
  • Lead communications planning and execution for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and strategic partnerships — developing acquisition communications, employee messaging, press strategies and integration narrative.

  • Drive public affairs and stakeholder engagement strategy: influence public policy narratives, build relationships with policymakers, industry associations and community leaders and manage advocacy communications as needed.
  • Champion corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ESG communications, ensuring sustainability, DE&I and community investment stories are integrated into broader reputation strategy and validated with metrics and third-party recognition.
  • Monitor the global media landscape and competitive communications activity; provide scenario planning, issue spot detection and proactive positioning to stay ahead of emerging stories and trends.
  • Lead proactive outreach for awards, rankings and thought leadership opportunities that build credibility and third-party validation for the brand and senior executives.
  • Ensure brand, tone and message consistency across all external communications and represent the company at high-visibility external forums, panels and media interviews.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Political Science, or a related field.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, MBA, or related advanced education; or executive education in crisis communications or public affairs.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
