Primary Functions

  • Verify guest age and check identification according to local laws and venue policies before serving alcohol, consistently enforcing responsible service and refusing service when necessary to comply with legal and safety obligations.
  • Monitor guest consumption and behavior, intervening when necessary to prevent over-service and escalate to management or security for incidents requiring further action to maintain a safe environment.
  • Provide attentive, anticipatory table service by refilling drinks, clearing empty glasses, and responding to additional guest requests such as water, garnishes, or menu clarifications in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Collaborate with bartenders and barbacks to coordinate drink preparation, prioritize service during peak shifts, and ensure organized workflow behind the bar and on the floor.

  • Resolve guest complaints and service issues professionally and promptly, escalating complex concerns to management and documenting incidents according to company policy to ensure guest recovery and continuous improvement.
  • Train and mentor new cocktail servers and seasonal staff on service standards, POS operation, responsible alcohol service, and venue-specific policies to help maintain a consistent team performance level.
  • Execute opening and closing duties reliably, including stocking service stations, preparing garnishes, checking bar equipment, reconciling cashouts, and ensuring the venue is ready for the next shift.
