The Creative Experience Designer is a multidisciplinary design professional responsible for shaping engaging, user-centered experiences across digital and physical touchpoints. The Creative Experience Designer partners with product managers, engineers, marketers, and stakeholders to translate insights into elegant, scalable design solutions and maintain design system integrity across channels.

Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead end-to-end experience design initiatives, owning discovery, research synthesis, journey mapping, concepting, wireframing, high-fidelity visual design, prototyping, and handoff to engineering to ensure consistent, high-quality product experiences.
  • Plan and execute generative and evaluative research (interviews, usability tests, diary studies, contextual inquiries) to validate assumptions, uncover unmet user needs, and translate qualitative insights into actionable design requirements.
  • Define and iterate on user journeys, personas, mental models, and experience maps that align customer needs with business goals and measurable KPIs such as conversion rate, task completion, and retention.
  • Collaborate with product managers to scope features and prioritize design work based on user impact, technical feasibility, and business value; contribute to product roadmaps and OKR planning.
  • Create interactive prototypes (low- to high-fidelity) for web, mobile, kiosk, and emerging platforms to validate flows, micro-interactions, and animation with stakeholders and users, accelerating decision-making and reducing implementation risk.
  • Design and maintain a scalable design system—components, patterns, tokens, and documentation—ensuring cross-product consistency, accessibility compliance, and developer friendliness.
  • Translate business requirements, analytics signals, and technical constraints into clear design specifications and acceptance criteria for engineering teams, ensuring accurate implementation and quality.
  • Conduct A/B and multivariate tests in partnership with analytics and product teams to optimize UX patterns, copy, and visual treatments for measurable uplift in engagement and revenue.
  • Develop compelling visual design assets—iconography, layout systems, motion principles, and brand-aligned UI—to elevate the product aesthetic while maintaining usability and performance.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops (co-creation, design sprints, alignment sessions) to accelerate ideation, drive consensus, and surface trade-offs early in the product lifecycle.
  • Advocate for inclusive design and accessibility (WCAG 2.1+), ensuring that experiences are perceivable, operable, and robust for diverse audiences and assistive technologies.
  • Monitor product analytics, heatmaps, session replays, and funnel metrics to identify friction points and prioritize iterative improvements that reduce pain points across conversion and retention flows.
  • Mentor junior designers, provide design critiques, and contribute to team hiring and onboarding processes to elevate the design capability and foster a culture of craft and continuous learning.
  • Produce comprehensive design documentation, pattern libraries, and developer-ready specs (SVGs, assets, responsive breakpoints) to streamline engineering integration and support multi-platform consistency.
  • Partner with marketing, content strategy, and brand teams to ensure integrated campaign experiences, onboarding flows, and cross-channel touchpoints communicate a coherent brand voice and message.
  • Drive mobile-first and responsive design strategies, optimizing layout, interactions, and performance for a range of devices and connection scenarios.
  • Anticipate and design for edge cases, error states, empty states, and progressive disclosure patterns to make complex systems feel simple and trustworthy for users.
  • Evaluate new design and prototyping tools, plugins, and front-end frameworks, recommending modern tooling that improves delivery velocity and collaboration between design and engineering.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through clear design rationale, trade-off discussions, and outcome-focused storytelling that connects design decisions to user impact and business metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional pilots for new experiences (AR/VR, voice, IoT) by producing concept prototypes, technical feasibility assessments, and go/no-go recommendations based on user feedback and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Ensure privacy-by-design principles and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA) are considered within user interfaces, consent flows, and data collection touchpoints.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain and evolve the design operations workflow, including project scoping templates, handoff checklists, and QA processes to reduce rework and improve time-to-market.
  • Support cross-functional analytics requests by defining UX measurement plans, instrumentation requirements, and event taxonomies in collaboration with product analytics teams.

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Expert-level proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Framer, and Principle for building interactive prototypes that communicate motion and micro-interaction intent.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Service Design, or an MBA with a focus on product/experience strategy is a plus.
