Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Own end-to-end delivery for multiple, concurrent enterprise programs and projects, accountable for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and benefits realization across the portfolio.
- Define and implement delivery strategy, governance, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, repeatable outcomes for complex digital transformation initiatives.
- Lead program planning and execution, including developing roadmaps, milestones, release plans, dependency management, and go-to-market coordination to maximize business value.
- Manage P&L and program financials: build and track budgets, forecasts, cost controls, invoicing cadence, and ROI/benefits metrics to ensure programs meet financial targets.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for delivery risks, issues and blockers; implement mitigation plans, run risk workshops, and communicate impacts and resolutions to executives and stakeholders.
- Establish and monitor key delivery KPIs and SLAs (e.g., velocity, cycle time, lead time, defect rates, customer satisfaction) and use data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Build, mentor, and scale delivery capability—hire and develop program managers, scrum masters, release managers and delivery leads; set performance standards and foster a culture of accountability.
- Drive vendor and third-party partner management, including contract negotiation, SOW management, vendor SLAs, performance reviews, and integration of external teams into delivery cadence.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, QA, Security, and Infrastructure leads to align on priorities, manage dependencies, and ensure robust end-to-end delivery practices.
- Lead and sponsor Agile transformation and adoption at scale (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or hybrid), coaching teams and leaders to improve predictability, quality and throughput.
- Create and present concise executive-level reporting and dashboards for C-suite and board-level stakeholders, translating technical progress into business outcomes and risk exposure.
- Drive release and deployment orchestration across QA, staging and production environments; own go/no-go decision making, release readiness, and post-release validation.
- Design and own cross-program change management plans, communications and stakeholder engagement to ensure user adoption and minimize business disruption during rollouts.
- Oversee resource capacity planning and allocation, optimize staffing across programs, and balance competing priorities to maximize throughput and team effectiveness.
- Lead post-implementation reviews, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives to institutionalize best practices and reduce rework and technical debt.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, security and privacy requirements by partnering with Legal, Compliance and Security teams to incorporate controls into delivery lifecycle.
- Drive automation of delivery processes (CI/CD, test automation, deployment pipelines) and tooling adoption (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow) to accelerate time-to-value.
- Negotiate scope, timelines and commercial terms with internal stakeholders and external customers, ensuring clear acceptance criteria and delivery commitments are documented.
- Champion customer-centric delivery: work closely with client stakeholders, product owners and account teams to maintain trust, manage expectations and resolve escalations promptly.
- Create detailed program-level business cases, cost/benefit analysis and executive sponsorship to secure funding and prioritize investments across the portfolio.
- Implement and enforce quality assurance practices, including test strategy alignment, defect tracking, and acceptance testing to deliver resilient and maintainable solutions.
- Coordinate cross-functional incident response and problem management for critical production issues, lead RCA (root cause analysis) and implement preventive measures.
- Manage organizational change related to delivery model shifts—lead training, workshops and organizational design changes to support new ways of working and scale.
