Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for a digital product or feature set, translating business objectives into prioritized initiatives that drive engagement, retention, and revenue.
  • Maintain and prioritize a well-groomed product backlog using value-driven prioritization techniques (weighted scoring, RICE, MoSCoW) to ensure development teams are focused on outcomes that move key KPIs.
  • Write clear, testable user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements that balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility; ensure stories are ready for sprint planning and execution.
  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering, design, marketing, data science, and business stakeholders to remove impediments and ensure alignment across the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to conduct customer research, usability testing, and journey mapping to develop intuitive, accessible, and high-converting user experiences.
  • Define success metrics (OKRs, KPIs) for features and products, instrument analytics (events, funnels, dashboards), and run ongoing measurement to validate assumptions and iterate on the product.
  • Lead A/B testing, experimentation, and conversion rate optimization (CRO) programs to validate hypotheses and scale successful variants across markets or segments.
  • Translate quantitative analytics and qualitative research into actionable product changes, creating a continuous feedback loop between users, data, and the product roadmap.
  • Own release planning, rollout strategies (phased, feature flags, canary releases), and post-release monitoring to ensure smooth launches and quick issue resolution.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint review, retrospectives) and work closely with the Scrum Master to maximize team output and predictability.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by communicating roadmap trade-offs, prioritization rationale, and delivery timelines through concise product briefs and regular update cadences.
  • Drive go-to-market planning with marketing, sales, and customer success teams by defining positioning, target segments, launch messaging, and success criteria for new feature releases.
  • Ensure product compliance with legal, security, privacy (GDPR, CCPA), and accessibility standards, coordinating with legal and security teams to reduce risk.
  • Develop business cases and ROI models for new initiatives, including revenue forecasts, cost estimates, and sensitivity analyses to support prioritization and funding decisions.
  • Negotiate scope, timelines, and technical trade-offs with engineering leads to deliver customer value while maintaining technical quality and architectural integrity.
  • Champion technical debt visibility and prioritize remediation work to maintain platform stability, scalability, and developer productivity.
  • Act as customer advocate: collect feedback from sales, support, and user interviews, synthesize pain points, and translate them into prioritized product improvements.
  • Drive internationalization and localization efforts for digital products, ensuring features are adapted to regional markets, languages, and cultural expectations.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and market trends, performing regular product and competitor analyses to identify differentiation opportunities and gaps.
  • Build and maintain product documentation, release notes, and internal training materials to ensure teams and stakeholders understand product changes and how to sell/support them.
  • Mentor junior product owners, analysts, and cross-functional teammates on product best practices, Agile delivery, and data-driven decision making.
  • Coordinate with data engineering to define instrumentation requirements, event schemas, and data governance to ensure accurate and reliable analytics for product decisions.
