- Train, mentor and evaluate crew members on installation techniques, proper tool usage, finishing methods, and safety procedures to raise technical skills and maintain consistent workmanship.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings, enforce PPE and fall protection requirements, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies at all times.
- Prepare and maintain production reports, time sheets, labor forecasts and daily logs for project managers, highlighting productivity, materials used and any delays or quality issues.
- Manage inventory of drywall, joint compounds, fasteners, trim, metal studs and accessories, coordinate material deliveries, track usage and minimize waste through effective planning and staging.
- Oversee on-site setup and safe operation of scaffolding, lifts, stilts and fall prevention systems for multi-level drywall installations and high-ceiling areas.
- Perform quality control inspections at critical stages (pre-tape, pre-finish, punchlist) and document defects, corrective actions and follow-up to ensure final acceptance by client or general contractor.
- Collaborate with project superintendents, subcontractors (electrical, HVAC, insulation) and inspectors to resolve coordination issues, sequencing conflicts and ensure wall/ceiling systems integrate properly with other trades.
- Read and enforce interior finish schedules, tolerance requirements, and surface preparation standards for paint, wallpaper or specialty finishes to guarantee handoff-ready surfaces.
