Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Design, develop, and deploy innovative, engaging, and interactive e-learning courses, modules, and learning journeys using industry-standard authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline 360 and Adobe Captivate.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) across various departments to identify learning needs, define clear learning objectives, and gather accurate, relevant content for course development.
- Apply proven instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles to create pedagogically sound learning experiences that drive knowledge retention and tangible behavior change.
- Create comprehensive design documents, storyboards, scripts, and prototypes to outline the structure, content, and interactivity of e-learning projects for stakeholder review and approval.
- Develop and integrate a variety of multimedia elements, including custom graphics, audio narration, instructional videos, and interactive simulations, to enhance the learning experience and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Administer, manage, and maintain the organization's Learning Management System (LMS), including uploading courses, managing user enrollments, configuring learning paths, and ensuring optimal system functionality.
- Design and implement valid and reliable assessments, quizzes, and knowledge checks to measure learning effectiveness and learner competency against defined objectives.
- Ensure all e-learning content is compliant with industry standards, such as SCORM and xAPI, for seamless integration and robust tracking within the LMS.
- Rigorously test and troubleshoot e-learning modules across different browsers, devices, and platforms to guarantee a high-quality, error-free user experience for all learners.
- Regularly review, update, and maintain the existing library of online courses to ensure content remains current, accurate, and relevant to the business's evolving needs.
- Manage the full project lifecycle for multiple e-learning initiatives simultaneously, from scoping and planning through to delivery and evaluation, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop and maintain a suite of supporting training materials, including job aids, user guides, quick reference guides, and resource documents to supplement online learning and support performance.
- Analyze learning metrics and generate insightful reports from the LMS to evaluate the impact and ROI of training programs, identify trends, and provide data-driven recommendations for future improvements.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the e-learning and instructional design fields, advocating for and piloting new tools and methodologies to drive innovation.
- Champion accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) in all course designs to ensure learning content is accessible to all employees, including those with disabilities.
Secondary Functions
- Provide Tier 2 technical support and guidance to end-users and facilitators regarding the LMS and other learning technologies.
- Assist in the conversion of existing instructor-led training (ILT) materials into effective and engaging blended or fully online learning formats.
- Gather and analyze feedback from learners and stakeholders through surveys, focus groups, and usability tests to drive the continuous improvement of learning solutions.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, freelancers, and content providers to supplement internal development capabilities and source specialized content.
- Partner with the communications team to market and promote new learning opportunities and drive engagement with our training programs.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Advanced proficiency with e-learning authoring tools, particularly Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, and Adobe Captivate.
- Expert-level administration and configuration of Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Cornerstone OnDemand, Docebo, Moodle, or equivalent platforms.
- Deep understanding of instructional design theories and models (ADDIE, SAM, Bloom's Taxonomy, Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction).
- Proficiency in multimedia development tools, including the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects) for creating custom graphics and videos.
- Thorough knowledge of e-learning standards and specifications, including SCORM (1.2, 2004), xAPI (Tin Can API), and cmi5.
- Experience with video and audio editing software to produce high-quality narrative and instructional media.
- Familiarity with web accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and designing for Section 508 compliance.
- Strong project management skills, with experience using tools like Asana, Trello, or Jira.
