Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Conduct in-depth analysis of e-waste generation, collection, and recycling data to identify trends, forecast volumes, and measure program performance.
Develop, manage, and continuously improve comprehensive e-waste management strategies that align with corporate sustainability goals and circular economy principles.
Ensure and document full compliance with global, national, and local e-waste regulations, including WEEE, RoHS, the Basel Convention, and various state-level Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws.
Prepare and submit timely and accurate compliance reports to regulatory bodies, producer responsibility organizations (PROs), and internal stakeholders.
Perform rigorous due diligence and regular audits on downstream recycling and disposal partners to verify responsible processing, data security, and adherence to environmental standards (e.g., R2, e-Stewards).
Manage relationships and contracts with e-waste recyclers, logistics providers, and IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) vendors, negotiating terms and monitoring service level agreements.
Develop and maintain sophisticated dashboards and data visualizations (using tools like Tableau or Power BI) to communicate key performance indicators and program impacts to leadership.
Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for electronic products to evaluate their environmental impact from manufacturing through end-of-life.
Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to provide data-driven feedback on material selection and design for disassembly, repair, and recyclability.
Analyze the financial implications of various e-waste management options, including cost-benefit analyses for repair, refurbishment, and recycling programs.
Track and report on key sustainability metrics, such as recycling rates, material recovery yields, and carbon footprint reduction resulting from e-waste initiatives.
Manage the company's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations, including registration, fee calculations, and reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
Research emerging e-waste recycling technologies, regulatory changes, and circular economy business models to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Create and deliver training programs and educational materials for internal teams on proper e-waste handling procedures and corporate policies.
Support the development of the company's annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) or sustainability report by providing accurate e-waste data and narrative content.
