Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Manage the complete onboarding process for new EDI trading partners, including initial communication, gathering technical specifications, and coordinating internal setup.
- Act as the primary liaison for all EDI-related communications with customers, suppliers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and internal business units.
- Diligently monitor daily EDI transaction flows (including 850, 856, 810, 997) to ensure successful processing and proactively identify potential failures.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve EDI processing errors, data discrepancies, and communication failures in a timely manner to minimize business impact.
- Coordinate and execute comprehensive testing for new EDI maps, transaction sets, and partner setups to ensure accuracy and compliance before go-live.
- Maintain and update existing EDI maps and configurations to accommodate changes in trading partner requirements or internal business processes.
- Develop and meticulously maintain documentation for all EDI processes, trading partner specifications, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaborate with the IT and ERP teams to ensure seamless data integration between the EDI platform and internal systems like SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
- Validate data integrity by comparing EDI transactions against corresponding documents within the ERP system to identify and correct any mismatches.
- Analyze and interpret trading partner EDI implementation guides and compliance manuals to ensure all company processes adhere to their specific standards.
- Provide essential support and training to internal users (e.g., customer service, accounting) on EDI-related workflows and best practices.
- Investigate and help resolve EDI-related compliance fines or chargebacks from trading partners by identifying the root cause and implementing corrective actions.
- Manage and configure EDI communication protocols such as AS2, SFTP, and FTP, and manage relationships with Value Added Network (VAN) providers.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports on EDI transaction volumes, error rates, and partner performance metrics for management review.
- Proactively identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency gains within the EDI ecosystem.
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on EDI matters for cross-functional projects that impact data exchange and business-to-business integration.
- Ensure all EDI activities are compliant with company policies and industry standards, maintaining a high level of data security and accuracy.
- Set up and maintain trading partner profiles, including communication methods, document types, and scheduling within the EDI software.
- Perform root cause analysis of recurring EDI issues to implement permanent solutions and prevent future occurrences.
- Work directly with business stakeholders to understand new B2B requirements and translate them into technical EDI specifications for development.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Deep understanding of EDI standards, primarily ANSI X12 and familiarity with EDIFACT.
- Hands-on experience with key EDI transaction sets such as 850 (Purchase Order), 856 (Advance Ship Notice), 810 (Invoice), and 997 (Functional Acknowledgement).
- Proficiency with EDI translation and mapping software (e.g., SPS Commerce, TrueCommerce, Cleo, Sterling B2B Integrator, OpenText).
- Experience with various communication protocols including AS2, SFTP, FTP, and Value-Added Networks (VANs).
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365) and how they integrate with EDI data.
- Basic to intermediate SQL skills for querying databases to validate data and troubleshoot issues.
