Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Actively assist and learn from Journeyman Electricians in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on diverse projects.
Develop the ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams, to understand project scope and material requirements.
Master the skill of measuring, cutting, bending, and installing various types of electrical conduit, including EMT and rigid, to create secure pathways for wiring.
Perform the hands-on installation of electrical components, devices, and equipment, such as panelboards, transformers, lighting fixtures, receptacles, and switches.
Pull, route, and terminate electrical wires and cables through conduits, trays, and walls, ensuring proper labeling and organization for future service.
⚫- Safely and proficiently operate a wide range of hand tools and power tools, including wire strippers, crimpers, drills, saws, and conduit benders.
Mount and secure electrical panels, switchgear, junction boxes, and other essential hardware according to specifications and code.
Learn and apply fundamental troubleshooting techniques on electrical circuits and systems under the direct supervision of a licensed electrician.
Adhere strictly to all company, client, and OSHA safety protocols, including the consistent and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Participate actively in job site safety briefings, "toolbox talks," and ongoing training sessions to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Assist in the installation and connection of low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, security, and data communication cabling.
Prepare and maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring the job site is free of hazards and debris.
Support the logistics of the job by assisting with the loading, unloading, and stocking of materials, parts, and equipment on company vehicles and job sites.
Learn to terminate wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components, ensuring secure, correct, and code-compliant connections.
Dig trenches and prepare work sites for the installation of underground conduit and wiring systems as needed.
Assist in the final phases of projects, including system testing and walk-throughs, to ensure all installations meet project specifications.
Develop a comprehensive and practical understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes through on-the-job application.
Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, team members, and other trades on the job site to coordinate work and resolve issues.
Accurately complete required daily paperwork, including work logs, time sheets, and material usage reports.
Take ownership of company-provided tools and equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained, cleaned, and stored.

Secondary Functions

Maintain a clean and organized company vehicle, performing regular checks to ensure it is stocked and ready for service.
Participate in mandatory apprenticeship classroom training and study sessions to supplement on-the-job learning.
Assist with inventory counts and material organization in the shop or storage containers.
Attend manufacturer-led training sessions to learn about new products, tools, and installation techniques.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Basic understanding of electrical theory, circuitry, and safety principles.
Proficiency in using common electrical hand tools (e.g., pliers, strippers, screwdrivers) and power tools (e.g., drills, impact drivers).
Mechanical aptitude with strong manual dexterity and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Education:

Experience Requirements
