Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Respond immediately and safely to all on-site emergencies, including medical calls, fires, hazardous material releases, confined space incidents, and security alerts.
Administer advanced pre-hospital medical care, including patient assessment, trauma care, CPR, and AED application, within the scope of certification.
Perform aggressive firefighting and suppression activities for structural, vehicle, and wildland fires using appropriate apparatus, equipment, and tactics.
Execute specialized rescue operations, including high-angle rope rescue, confined space entry and retrieval, and vehicle extrication.
Operate and command emergency response vehicles, such as fire trucks, ambulances, and rapid response units, ensuring they are driven safely and arrive promptly.
Establish and manage an Incident Command System (ICS) on-scene to ensure a coordinated and effective response until relieved by senior management or external agencies.
Identify, isolate, and mitigate hazardous material (HAZMAT) incidents, including performing containment, decontamination, and atmospheric monitoring procedures.
Conduct thorough search and rescue operations to locate and assist missing or trapped personnel in complex and hazardous environments.
Provide initial site security, establishing control zones and managing access to ensure the safety of responders and the integrity of the incident scene.
Serve as the primary liaison with external public safety agencies (Fire, EMS, Police) upon their arrival, providing a detailed handover and ongoing support.

Secondary Functions

Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, functional tests, and maintenance on all life safety and emergency response equipment, including SCBAs, fire extinguishers, medical kits, and alarm systems.
Develop, review, and continuously improve emergency response pre-plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and site-specific protocols.
Design and deliver engaging safety and emergency preparedness training for all site personnel, covering topics like first aid, fire extinguisher use, and evacuation procedures.
Plan, execute, and document regular emergency drills and full-scale simulation exercises to validate plans and maintain team competency.
Author detailed and accurate incident reports, training records, and equipment maintenance logs to ensure regulatory compliance and support post-incident analysis.
Proactively patrol the facility to identify and correct safety hazards, security vulnerabilities, and non-compliance with company policies, fostering a strong safety culture.
Manage the inventory of all emergency medical and response supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels, proper storage, and timely reordering to maintain readiness.
Maintain a high level of physical fitness and readiness to meet the strenuous demands of emergency response duties, as verified through periodic assessments.
Assist Health & Safety teams with conducting risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and issuing hot work or confined space entry permits.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

State or National EMT/Paramedic Certification: Current and in good standing.
Firefighter I & II Certification (NFPA 1001/1081): Proven competency in industrial or structural firefighting.
