Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based clinical care for patients presenting with a wide array of endocrine disorders, including diabetes mellitus (Type 1, Type 2, LADA), thyroid diseases (hypo/hyperthyroidism, nodules, cancer), and metabolic syndrome.
  • Develop, implement, and meticulously manage individualized and holistic treatment plans, incorporating medication regimens, advanced therapies, lifestyle modifications, and continuous patient education.
  • Perform and interpret specialized diagnostic procedures in an office or hospital setting, including thyroid ultrasounds, fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies, and dynamic endocrine function testing.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data from continuous glucose monitors (CGM), insulin pumps, and other diabetes-related technologies to optimize glycemic control and patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including primary care physicians, surgeons, dietitians, pharmacists, and certified diabetes educators, to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain exceptionally accurate, timely, and comprehensive patient records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring strict adherence to all institutional, state, and federal regulatory standards.
  • Participate in a shared on-call schedule to provide expert endocrinology consultations for inpatient services, the emergency department, and referring physicians.
  • Actively engage in continuous professional development and medical education to stay at the forefront of the latest clinical research, treatment modalities, and practice guidelines in endocrinology.
  • Provide expert consultation to other physicians and healthcare providers throughout the health system, offering guidance on the management of complex or refractory endocrine cases.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs within the endocrinology department.
  • Mentor, educate, and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows during their endocrinology rotations, fostering the growth and development of the next generation of physicians.
  • Manage a full and diverse outpatient clinic panel, ensuring timely patient access to care, appropriate follow-up intervals, and effective communication between visits.
  • Order, review, and interpret a broad range of laboratory assays and radiological imaging studies (e.g., MRI, CT, DEXA scans) to accurately diagnose and monitor endocrine conditions.
  • Prescribe and manage advanced hormonal therapies, including multi-faceted hormone replacement, biologic agents, and novel pharmaceuticals for endocrine diseases.
  • Diagnose and manage a full spectrum of adrenal and pituitary disorders, including Cushing's syndrome, Addison's disease, acromegaly, and prolactinomas.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases, including the interpretation of bone density scans and management of advanced therapeutics.
  • Manage disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, such as primary hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, and vitamin D deficiency.
  • Diagnose and treat reproductive endocrine disorders in collaboration with GYN and Urology, including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), hypogonadism, and infertility-related hormonal imbalances.
  • Provide specialized care for endocrine-related issues during pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes and thyroid dysfunction, in close partnership with obstetrics teams.
  • Educate patients and their families extensively on their specific conditions, treatment options, and critical self-management techniques to promote empowerment and improve long-term adherence and health.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Pediatrics.
  • Successful completion of an accredited fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
  • A valid, unrestricted state medical license and DEA registration.

Preferred Education:

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Pediatrics.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism by the ABIM or AOBIM.
