Primary Functions

  • Expertly explain and navigate available utility, state, and federal rebates, tax credits, and financing options to make energy projects more affordable for clients.
  • Guide clients through the entire project implementation lifecycle, from clarifying recommendations to assisting with contractor selection and reviewing proposals.
  • Perform advanced diagnostic testing using tools like blower doors, duct blasters, and infrared thermal imaging cameras to pinpoint sources of energy waste.
  • Maintain up-to-date, expert-level knowledge of emerging energy efficiency technologies, renewable energy solutions (e.g., solar PV, heat pumps), and evolving building codes.
  • Collaborate closely with a network of installation partners and contractors to ensure that recommended upgrades are performed according to industry best practices and program standards.
  • Generate new client leads and expand business opportunities through community engagement, participation in local events, and fostering a strong referral network.
  • Meticulously document all client interactions, audit findings, and project milestones within the company's CRM system to ensure seamless tracking and reporting.
  • Provide post-installation support, including measurement and verification (M&V), to confirm that energy-saving measures are performing as projected and to ensure client satisfaction.

  • Assist clients in understanding complex utility rate structures (including time-of-use rates) and advise on behavioral changes to optimize energy spending.
  • Prepare clear technical specifications and scopes of work for energy efficiency projects to facilitate accurate bidding from qualified contractors.
  • Conduct rigorous quality assurance inspections on completed projects to verify that work meets the highest standards of safety and performance.
  • Act as a technical troubleshooter for customers experiencing high-bill complaints or comfort issues, using a data-led approach to diagnose the root cause.
  • Advise clients on the strategic integration of smart home technology, thermostats, and IoT devices to provide them with greater control over their energy management.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Building Science Expertise: Deep understanding of the house-as-a-system concept, including heat transfer, air movement, and moisture control.
  • Energy Audit Certifications: BPI (Building Performance Institute) Building Analyst or RESNET HERS Rater certification is highly preferred.
  • Diagnostic Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with energy auditing equipment, especially blower doors, duct blasters, and infrared cameras.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong familiarity with residential/commercial HVAC systems, water heaters, building envelope components (insulation, windows), and lighting.
  • Renewable & Electrification Tech: Knowledge of solar photovoltaics (PV), air source and geothermal heat pumps, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to perform quantitative analysis, including energy savings calculations, simple payback, and ROI.
  • Software Proficiency: Competence in using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel for data analysis).
