Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute large-scale institutional equity orders (high-touch and low-touch/algorithmic) across domestic and international markets, including single stocks, ETFs, and related derivatives.
- Manage the full lifecycle of a trade, from pre-trade analysis and strategy selection to execution and post-trade review, to minimize transaction costs and market impact.
- Constantly monitor real-time market data, news flow, and geopolitical events to make informed, split-second trading decisions and manage intraday risk.
- Develop, test, and implement proprietary trading strategies and algorithms to capitalize on market inefficiencies and alpha opportunities.
- Provide high-quality market color, liquidity analysis, and execution feedback to Portfolio Managers and Research Analysts to inform investment decisions.
- Manage portfolio-level risk, including P&L, market exposure, factor sensitivities, and VaR, ensuring alignment with firm-wide risk parameters.
- Optimize the use of various trading algorithms (e.g., VWAP, TWAP, POV, Implementation Shortfall) and smart order routers to achieve best execution.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with sell-side brokers, liquidity providers, and exchange representatives to source liquidity and gather market intelligence.
- Analyze Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) reports to evaluate execution quality, identify trends, and refine trading strategies and broker selection.
- Contribute to the design, enhancement, and testing of proprietary and third-party trading systems, platforms (OMS/EMS), and analytical tools.
- Actively identify and exploit short-term trading opportunities arising from market dislocations, news catalysts, or flow imbalances.
- Manage complex multi-leg and multi-asset class orders, ensuring precise and coordinated execution.
- Perform pre-trade analysis to forecast market impact, estimate costs, and determine the optimal trading horizon for large orders.
- Ensure all trading activities are conducted in strict compliance with internal policies and external regulatory frameworks (e.g., SEC, FINRA, MiFID II).
- Manage currency risk associated with trading in international markets through effective FX hedging strategies.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Execution & Order Management Systems (EMS/OMS): Expert-level proficiency with platforms such as Bloomberg (SSEOMS, TSOX), Fidessa, FlexTrade, or similar institutional-grade systems.
- Market Data Terminals: Deep knowledge of Bloomberg Terminal and/or Refinitiv Eikon for data analysis, news monitoring, and communication.
- Programming & Scripting: Practical experience with Python, R, or C++ for data analysis, strategy backtesting, and process automation.
