  • Coach students on advanced storytelling techniques, such as developing a compelling hook, using vivid imagery, and creating a satisfying narrative arc.
  • Utilize a proprietary online platform to receive assignments, communicate with students, and deliver detailed, actionable feedback.
  • Collaborate with a broader team of admissions consultants and counselors to ensure a cohesive and holistic application strategy for each student.
  • Analyze and deconstruct supplemental essay prompts to help students develop targeted, insightful, and non-repetitive responses.
  • Empower students to become stronger, more self-sufficient writers by explaining the 'why' behind edits and teaching transferable writing principles.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all student interactions, feedback provided, and draft versions for quality assurance and progress tracking.
  • Review a wide range of written materials, including personal statements, short-answer responses, scholarship essays, and waitlist letters.
  • Evaluate essays using a detailed internal rubric to ensure consistent, high-quality feedback across the entire reviewer team.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Exceptional, expert-level command of English grammar, punctuation, syntax, and mechanics.
  • Deep understanding of narrative theory, storytelling techniques, and rhetorical devices.
  • Proficiency with major style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, AP).
  • Extensive knowledge of the U.S. college application process, including the Common Application, Coalition Application, and UC system.
  • High proficiency in using digital collaboration tools like Google Docs, Microsoft Word (Track Changes), and various communication platforms (Slack, Zoom).
  • Ability to quickly learn and master proprietary software and online review platforms.
