Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop, implement, and operationalize comprehensive corporate ethics and compliance programs to ensure alignment with our values and global regulatory landscapes.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, providing expert guidance on complex ethical dilemmas, compliance issues, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Conduct in-depth ethical risk assessments on emerging technologies, particularly AI and machine learning systems, to identify, analyze, and mitigate potential harms related to bias, fairness, transparency, and accountability.
- Design, develop, and deliver engaging and impactful ethics training programs for all levels of the organization to cultivate and reinforce a strong ethical culture.
- Lead and/or support sensitive, confidential investigations into alleged violations of the company's code of conduct, policies, or legal standards, ensuring a fair and thorough process.
- Draft, review, and continuously update corporate policies, procedures, and codes of conduct to reflect evolving legal standards, industry best practices, and strategic business needs.
- Collaborate directly with product, engineering, and design teams to embed ethical principles and responsible innovation frameworks into the entire product development lifecycle.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the effectiveness of ethics and compliance programs, reporting findings and strategic recommendations to the executive board and relevant committees.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of global ethics trends, new legislation, regulatory developments, and enforcement actions to proactively adapt the company's strategy and mitigate future risks.
- Translate abstract ethical principles (e.g., fairness, accountability, privacy) into tangible operational guidance, technical requirements, and actionable business processes.
- Oversee the management and resolution of cases submitted through the company's ethics hotline and other confidential reporting channels, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
- Champion and support initiatives that promote a "speak-up" culture, ensuring employees feel psychologically safe to voice concerns without fear of retaliation.
- Prepare and present clear, concise reports on the status of the ethics and compliance program for the Board of Directors, audit committees, and senior management.
- Perform comprehensive ethical due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and critical third-party partnerships to identify and mitigate inherited risks.
- Represent the company and engage with external stakeholders such as regulators, industry consortiums, academic institutions, and civil society organizations on critical ethics and policy issues.
- Facilitate multi-stakeholder workshops, ethics committees, and review boards to deliberate on and build consensus around challenging ethical trade-offs in business and technology.
