Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Safely operate a company-provided delivery vehicle (e.g., cargo van, step van) in diverse weather and traffic conditions, primarily during evening and nighttime hours.
- Meticulously follow pre-determined and optimized delivery routes using GPS and proprietary routing software to ensure maximum efficiency and on-time performance.
- Execute a high volume of deliveries, ranging from 100-200+ stops per shift, while maintaining a consistent and professional pace.
- Load, handle, and unload packages of various sizes and weights (up to 50-75 lbs) into and out of the vehicle, ensuring they are scanned correctly and secured to prevent damage.
- Provide exceptional, friendly, and professional customer service during every delivery interaction, serving as a positive representative of the company brand.
- Utilize a handheld scanner or smartphone device to accurately track packages, update delivery statuses in real-time, capture proof of delivery, and manage daily tasks.
- Perform mandatory pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections (e.g., checking tires, lights, oil, and brakes) and report any issues or maintenance needs immediately to management.
- Communicate proactively and effectively with the dispatch team regarding your route progress, any on-road delays, delivery exceptions, or customer issues.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, traffic laws, and internal safety protocols to maintain a clean driving record and ensure personal and public safety.
- Troubleshoot and resolve common on-road delivery challenges, such as locating difficult addresses, navigating apartment complexes, or handling customer inquiries at the point of delivery.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of your assigned delivery vehicle, ensuring it presents a professional image and is ready for the next shift.
- Securely return all undelivered packages, collected payments (if applicable), and company equipment to the distribution center at the conclusion of your shift.
Secondary Functions
- Assist with sorting packages and organizing delivery routes within the warehouse before departing for your shift to ensure an efficient start.
- Maintain accurate logs and complete all required paperwork related to deliveries, vehicle mileage, and hours of service in a timely manner.
- Navigate and deliver in low-light or dark conditions, using caution and appropriate vehicle lighting to ensure safety for yourself and the public.
- Manage time effectively to meet strict delivery windows and service level agreements, prioritizing tasks as needed throughout the shift.
- Handle fragile, high-value, or specially marked packages with extra care, following any specific handling instructions provided.
- Adapt to dynamic route changes or ad-hoc pickups as directed by the dispatch team to meet evolving business needs.

- Valid State Driver's License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) free of major violations.
- GPS & Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using GPS navigation systems and smartphone applications for routing, communication, and package tracking.
- Vehicle Operation: Ability to safely operate and maneuver a cargo van or similar-sized commercial vehicle in tight spaces and various road conditions.
- Physical Stamina & Strength: Ability to consistently lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 75 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Route Planning: Basic understanding of how to read a map and follow complex, multi-stop delivery routes efficiently.
