Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Diligently monitor and control access points, including entrances, exits, and restricted areas, to ensure only authorized individuals gain entry, thereby preventing unauthorized access and safeguarding event integrity.
- Actively patrol assigned zones within the event venue, circulating among guests, staff, and performers to maintain a visible security presence, deter misconduct, and protect venue and personal property.
- Implement strategic crowd management techniques to ensure the safe and orderly movement of large numbers of people, preventing congestion and maintaining safe patron densities, especially during ingress, egress, and high-traffic periods.
- Provide immediate and effective response to security alarms, medical emergencies, and other disturbances, investigating the situation thoroughly and escalating to emergency services or management as required.
- Efficiently and respectfully screen all patrons and their belongings using security equipment such as magnetometers (walk-through and handheld wands) and conducting bag checks to prevent prohibited items from entering the venue.
- Proactively address and de-escalate potential conflicts by courteously informing guests of venue policies and rules, and when necessary, carrying out evictions of non-compliant individuals in a professional and safe manner.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for guests, offering exceptional customer service by providing accurate information, giving directions, and assisting with inquiries to enhance the overall event experience.
- Meticulously document all security-related activities, incidents, and unusual occurrences by preparing detailed, accurate, and timely reports for management review and official records.
- Collaborate effectively with local law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS), and fire department personnel to ensure a coordinated and unified response to any large-scale incidents or emergencies.
- Enforce alcohol management policies, including checking identification to verify age and refusing service to intoxicated guests in a non-confrontational manner.
- Monitor CCTV systems and surveillance equipment to observe and identify suspicious behavior or potential security threats throughout the facility.
- Secure and protect high-value assets, sensitive areas, and designated VIP or performer zones from unauthorized access or interference.
- Administer basic first aid and CPR/AED to individuals in medical distress until professional medical personnel arrive on the scene.
- Utilize two-way radios and other communication devices to maintain constant contact with the security command center, supervisors, and fellow team members.
- Assist with emergency evacuation procedures, calmly and clearly directing patrons to the nearest safe exits in the event of a fire, security threat, or other emergency.
Secondary Functions
- Conduct pre-event security sweeps of the venue, including backstage, seating areas, and public concourses, to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Participate in pre-event briefings and post-event debriefings to stay informed of event specifics, security protocols, and to provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Perform post-event duties, including securing the venue, conducting final walkthroughs, and managing the orderly departure of all remaining staff and guests.
- Identify and report any safety hazards, such as spills, broken equipment, or blocked pathways, to the appropriate department for immediate resolution.
- Escort artists, VIPs, or other designated personnel through public and non-public areas, ensuring their safety and privacy.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, acting as a brand ambassador for the venue and the event.
- Investigate and document incidents of theft or property damage, collecting witness statements and preserving evidence as necessary for internal or police reports.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Security Screening Procedures: Proficient in operating metal detectors (handheld and walk-through) and conducting thorough but respectful bag checks.
- First Aid, CPR & AED Certification: Certified and able to provide immediate medical assistance in emergency situations.
