Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively manage, retain, and deepen a complex portfolio of high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) client relationships, serving as their single point of contact for all financial matters.
  • Drive new business acquisition by developing and executing a strategic marketing plan, leveraging personal networks, centers of influence (COIs), and internal referrals.
  • Originate, structure, and negotiate complex credit facilities, including custom-tailored personal and commercial loans, lines of credit, and specialized financing for assets like real estate, aircraft, and fine art.
  • Conduct comprehensive client discovery to gain a deep understanding of their personal financial situation, business interests, family dynamics, and long-term wealth objectives.
  • Develop and present sophisticated, integrated financial plans and wealth management strategies that encompass investment management, trust and estate planning, and philanthropic goals.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with internal partners, including Wealth Advisors, Portfolio Managers, and Credit Specialists, to assemble a dedicated team and deliver the full capabilities of the bank.
  • Actively identify opportunities to cross-sell a wide range of bank products and services, such as treasury management, foreign exchange, and investment banking solutions, to both new and existing clients.
  • Provide expert advice on capital structure and financing options for clients' business interests, including working capital, equipment financing, and acquisition funding.
  • Maintain an expert-level understanding of market trends, economic conditions, and competitive landscape to provide timely and relevant advice to clients.
  • Ensure all client activities and transactions are in strict compliance with all regulatory requirements, including KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), and internal bank policies.
  • Lead the credit underwriting and approval process, preparing detailed credit memorandums and presenting proposals to credit committees for approval.
  • Achieve and exceed specific goals for portfolio growth, revenue generation, new client acquisition, and client satisfaction metrics.
  • Serve as a visible representative of the bank in the community by actively participating in business, civic, and charitable organizations to enhance brand reputation and generate leads.
  • Conduct regular, in-depth portfolio reviews with clients to reassess their goals, evaluate performance, and proactively adjust strategies as their needs or market conditions evolve.
  • Champion a superior client service model, ensuring all inquiries and issues are resolved promptly and effectively to foster unwavering client loyalty.
  • Analyze client balance sheets, cash flow statements, and tax positions to identify opportunities for financial optimization and risk mitigation.
  • Structure and deliver sophisticated deposit and cash management solutions to help clients maximize liquidity and yield on their operating and investment cash.
  • Mentor and guide junior bankers and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional development within the team.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms on loans and deposit products to ensure a profitable relationship for the bank while providing competitive value to the client.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key centers of influence, such as attorneys, accountants, and other professional advisors, to create a robust referral network.

  • Participate in bank-wide strategic initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing the client experience or improving operational efficiency.
  • Provide regular, detailed reporting to senior management on portfolio performance, pipeline activity, and market intelligence.
  • Contribute to the ongoing refinement of the bank's value proposition and service offerings for the high-net-worth segment.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, presenting on financial topics at internal training sessions and external client events.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 10+ years of progressive experience in private banking, commercial banking, or wealth management.

Preferred: A proven, portable book of business and extensive experience managing relationships with clients possessing a net worth of $5M+ or businesses with annual revenues of $10M+. Formal credit training is highly desirable.
