Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop and execute the overarching creative vision and content strategy for all assigned projects, ensuring alignment with brand identity and audience targets.
  • Oversee the entire production lifecycle from initial concept and script development through pre-production, principal photography, post-production, and final delivery.
  • Build, manage, and meticulously track multi-million dollar production budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within financial parameters while maximizing creative output.
  • Source, hire, and lead a best-in-class production team, including directors, producers, writers, and key department heads, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for high-level stakeholders, including network executives, clients, financiers, and internal leadership, providing regular, clear, and strategic updates.
  • Lead high-stakes negotiations for talent contracts, intellectual property rights, distribution deals, and vendor agreements to secure favorable terms.
  • Provide direct creative feedback and guidance on scripts, storyboards, casting, edits, and all other creative elements to maintain quality and narrative integrity.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to production, including legal, financial, logistical, and creative challenges, by developing proactive contingency plans.
  • Champion and enforce production best practices, workflows, and standards across all projects to enhance efficiency and ensure consistent quality.
  • Develop and pitch new project concepts and show formats to internal and external partners, securing greenlights and funding for new productions.
  • Manage and approve all key production deliverables, schedules, and call sheets, ensuring all logistical aspects are handled with precision.
  • Cultivate and maintain a strong network of industry relationships with agents, managers, talent, production companies, and technology partners.
  • Review and approve final cuts and masters, ensuring they meet all creative, technical, and broadcast/distribution specifications.
  • Drive the overall quality bar for content, pushing creative boundaries and innovating in storytelling and production techniques.
  • Collaborate with marketing and PR teams to develop effective launch strategies and promotional materials for finished projects.
  • Supervise the post-production process, including editing, visual effects, sound design, and color grading, to ensure the final product realizes the initial creative vision.
  • Ensure all productions adhere to legal guidelines, guild regulations (SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA), and safety protocols.
  • Evaluate and integrate new production technologies and software to streamline workflows and enhance creative possibilities.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level producers, providing career guidance and fostering the next generation of production talent.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor content, and audience data to inform development decisions and content strategy.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial reports, cost analyses, and ROI projections to executive leadership and investors.

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Budgeting & Financial Management: Expertise in creating, managing, and tracking complex, large-scale production budgets using software like Movie Magic Budgeting, Showbiz, or advanced Excel.
  • Project Management Software: Proficiency with tools like ShotGrid, Frame.io, Asana, or Monday.com to manage complex timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Contract Negotiation: Demonstrated ability to negotiate and structure complex agreements for talent, rights, locations, and distribution.
  • Post-Production Workflow: Deep understanding of the post-production pipeline, including editing, VFX, sound mixing, color correction, and final mastering/delivery.
  • Content Development: Proven skill in identifying, developing, and packaging compelling stories and concepts for various platforms.
  • Legal & Guild Compliance: Strong working knowledge of entertainment law, intellectual property rights, and union/guild (DGA, WGA, SAG-AFTRA) regulations.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 12-15+ years of progressive experience in media production.

Preferred: A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in a senior producing role (Producer, Supervising Producer, EP) with a portfolio of successful, high-budget projects (film, television, or major digital content) from concept through public release. Direct experience managing teams of 20+ and budgets exceeding $5M is strongly preferred.
