Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Expertly interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and detailed floor plans to accurately execute the assembly and layout of custom and modular exhibits.
- Lead the complete on-site installation and dismantling (I&D) of large-scale trade show booths, museum installations, and corporate event environments, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic perfection.
- Skillfully pull, prep, and pack exhibit components from a warehouse environment, ensuring all necessary parts, tools, and hardware are accounted for and securely loaded for transport.
- Manage the safe and efficient loading and unloading of freight trucks, meticulously organizing and staging crates and materials for streamlined installation on the show floor.
- Perform on-the-fly repairs and maintenance on exhibit properties, utilizing carpentry, electrical, and mechanical skills to resolve unforeseen issues and maintain brand standards.
- Apply large-format graphics, including vinyl applications, fabric panels, and rigid signage, ensuring precise alignment, bubble-free application, and a professional finish.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, providing exceptional customer service, conducting pre-show walkthroughs, and addressing any concerns to ensure complete satisfaction.
- Direct, supervise, and train local labor crews (union and non-union), effectively delegating tasks and managing workflow to meet tight project deadlines.
- Perform detailed pre-fabrication quality checks at the production facility to identify and correct any potential issues before properties are shipped to the event site.
- Ensure all on-site activities strictly adhere to safety protocols, including OSHA regulations and venue-specific rules, to maintain a safe working environment for the entire team.
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot integrated technology, including LED lighting systems, audio/visual equipment, and interactive displays, in collaboration with A/V technicians.
- Conduct comprehensive post-show inspections of all exhibit properties, documenting any damage, wear and tear, or necessary repairs in detailed reports for the project management team.
- Manage the meticulous inventory of all exhibit components, tools, and supplies, ensuring accurate tracking and proper storage both on-site and upon return to the warehouse.
- Coordinate logistics with freight carriers, show management, and other on-site vendors (e.g., electrical, rigging) to ensure seamless and timely delivery and removal of exhibit materials.
- Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently for the movement and positioning of large crates and structural elements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area on the show floor at all times, reflecting positively on the company and the client's brand.
- Travel extensively, both nationally and internationally, often working non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays to accommodate event schedules.
- Read and understand detailed work orders to ensure all specific client requirements, custom elements, and project specifications are met without deviation.
- Proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve logistical and structural challenges on-site, demonstrating resourcefulness and a calm-under-pressure demeanor.
- Complete and submit all necessary post-event paperwork, including time sheets, expense reports, and detailed service reports, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in the custom fabrication and finishing of new exhibit properties in the shop during non-travel periods, contributing to the creation of high-quality displays.
- Maintain and care for company-provided tools, equipment, and service vehicles, ensuring they are in excellent working condition for every project.

- Assist the warehouse team with inventory management, crating, and exhibit prep during periods between shows.
- Contribute to post-project review meetings, providing valuable on-site feedback to improve processes, designs, and fabrication techniques.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Designers to review plans for new builds, offering practical insights on buildability and installation efficiency.
- Mentor and train junior installers and temporary staff on best practices for safety, quality, and efficiency.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Blueprint & Schematic Reading: Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, floor plans, and setup instructions to execute a build plan accurately.
- Carpentry & Fabrication: Proficient with a full range of hand and power tools (saws, drills, routers) for wood/laminate work, assembly, finishing, and repairs.
- Modular & Custom Systems: Deep experience with various exhibit systems (e.g., Octanorm, beMatrix, Aluvision) and the assembly of complex, custom-built structures.
- Graphics Installation: Demonstrated skill in applying large-format vinyl, SEG fabric graphics, and various types of rigid signage with precision and care.
- Basic Electrical Wiring: Knowledge of setting up exhibit lighting, connecting power distribution units, and troubleshooting basic 120v electrical issues safely.
- Logistics & Crating: Experience in properly packing diverse exhibit components for damage-free transit and managing freight logistics on a show floor.
- Equipment Operation: Certification or ability to be certified to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other material handling equipment.
