Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Safely operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of farm machinery, including tractors, balers, loaders, and planters for tasks such as tilling, planting, and harvesting.
- Execute daily feeding, watering, and care routines for all farm livestock, ensuring adherence to established nutritional and hydration schedules.
- Diligently monitor the health and well-being of livestock, promptly identifying and reporting any signs of illness, injury, or distress to the Farm Manager.
- Provide hands-on assistance during critical animal husbandry events, including birthing, vaccinations, health checks, and herd movements.
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of all animal enclosures, barns, stalls, and pens to promote animal health and prevent disease.
- Actively participate in all stages of crop production, from soil preparation and amendment to the precise planting of seeds and seedlings.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain various irrigation systems to ensure crops receive optimal water levels based on weather conditions and growth stages.
- Conduct essential crop maintenance tasks, including manual and mechanical weeding, pest and disease scouting, and the application of fertilizers or treatments as directed.
- Execute harvesting, sorting, grading, and packing of agricultural products, adhering strictly to quality standards and post-harvest handling procedures.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor mechanical repairs on farm equipment, vehicles, and tools to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness.
- Construct, inspect, and repair property fencing to guarantee secure livestock containment and maintain clear property boundaries.
- Undertake general farm and property maintenance, which includes mowing, grounds-keeping, building repairs, and road upkeep.
- Safely load and unload agricultural inputs such as feed and seed, as well as harvested products and other heavy materials.
- Keep detailed and accurate daily records of farm activities, including feeding logs, crop treatment applications, equipment usage, and animal health observations.
- Strictly adhere to all farm safety protocols, biosecurity measures, and operational procedures to foster a safe working environment for all staff and animals.
- Assist in the construction of new farm infrastructure, such as sheds, greenhouses, or animal shelters, from foundation to finishing.
- Operate ATVs, UTVs, and other utility vehicles to efficiently transport tools, supplies, and personnel across the expansive farm property.
- Regularly assess pasture and field conditions, reporting on forage quality, growth, and any potential issues that could impact grazing or crop health.
- Support the management of inventory for farm supplies, tools, and spare parts, notifying management when reordering is necessary.
- Prepare fields for seasonal transitions through activities like plowing, discing, and harrowing to ensure optimal soil conditions for future planting.
- Assist with the low-stress transportation and handling of livestock to different pastures, for veterinary appointments, or to market.
- Collect soil, water, and plant tissue samples for laboratory analysis to help guide nutrient management and soil health strategies.
Secondary Functions
- Assist with direct-to-consumer sales activities, such as staffing a farm stand or helping at a local farmers' market.
- Contribute to the setup, operation, and breakdown of seasonal agritourism events or farm tours for the public.
- Provide flexible support to other farm departments or team members during peak seasons or for special projects as required.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
