Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively cultivate and nurture long-term client relationships by maintaining a detailed client book, recording preferences, purchase history, and key personal dates.
  • Deliver an elevated and personalized shopping experience by actively listening to client needs and providing expert styling advice for various occasions, from everyday wear to special events.
  • Drive and exceed personal and store sales goals through exceptional customer service, strategic client outreach, and proficient up-selling and cross-selling techniques.
  • Maintain an expert-level knowledge of all product categories, including collection details, brand history, fabrications, and garment care, to confidently educate clients.
  • Schedule and conduct private styling appointments, preparing a curated selection of merchandise in advance based on the client's profile and stated needs.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, embodying the brand's aesthetic and values in your personal presentation and professional conduct at all times.
  • Execute consistent and strategic client outreach via phone, email, and text to share new arrivals, targeted recommendations, and information about upcoming events.
  • Skillfully build complete outfits and wardrobes for clients, demonstrating how different pieces can be styled together to maximize versatility and value.
  • Manage and resolve client issues with a high degree of professionalism and empathy, ensuring a positive resolution that maintains the client relationship.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system, while also capturing and updating client information in the CRM database.
  • Stay relentlessly current with industry and fashion trends, competitor landscapes, and runway looks to provide relevant and modern styling advice.
  • Assist clients with special orders, pre-orders, and locating merchandise from other store locations or warehouses to fulfill their requests.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by communicating effectively with team members and management to collectively meet and exceed store objectives.
  • Take ownership of a specific product category or department, ensuring it is well-stocked, visually appealing, and that the team is knowledgeable about it.
  • Actively participate in all product training sessions and team meetings to continuously develop your skills and product knowledge.
  • Support the planning and execution of in-store events, trunk shows, and client appreciation initiatives to drive traffic and sales.
  • Leverage digital tools and social media platforms, where appropriate, to showcase new products and engage with your client network.
  • Provide guidance on fit and tailoring, working with in-house or recommended tailors to ensure clients achieve the perfect silhouette.
  • Confidently handle high-value transactions and manage a diverse clientele, including VIPs and international customers, with discretion and poise.
  • Consistently follow up with clients post-purchase to ensure satisfaction and build anticipation for their next visit or purchase.
  • Network within the local community to build brand awareness and attract new, high-potential clients to the store.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in maintaining the impeccable visual presentation of the sales floor, including merchandising, tidying fitting rooms, and executing floor sets according to brand directives.
  • Support inventory management tasks, such as receiving shipments, conducting cycle counts, processing transfers, and ensuring the sales floor is consistently replenished.
  • Contribute to a positive and motivational store environment by supporting colleagues and celebrating team successes.
  • Help train and mentor new team members on product knowledge, brand standards, and the art of clienteling.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency in operating modern Point of Sale (POS) systems and payment processing terminals.
  • Experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) software for building and maintaining a client book.
  • Deep, extensive knowledge of fashion trends, prominent designers, fabric types, and garment construction.
  • Competency in visual merchandising principles and maintaining brand presentation standards.
  • Strong understanding of sales mathematics, including calculating discounts, commissions, and sales targets.
  • Knowledge of inventory management procedures, including stock counts and replenishment.
  • Skill in digital communication for client outreach, including professional email and text etiquette.
  • Ability to use tablets or other mobile devices for clienteling, inventory look-ups, and mobile checkout.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a retail sales environment.

  • A demonstrable history of achieving sales goals and building a loyal client base is highly advantageous.
