Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Translate conceptual design ideas from creative briefs and designer sketches into high-quality, finished fashion illustrations for presentations and line sheets.
- Create dimensionally accurate and detailed technical flat sketches of garments using Adobe Illustrator, ensuring all construction details, stitching, and hardware are clearly represented for production.
- Develop original, market-ready prints, patterns, and textile graphics, ensuring they are properly scaled and engineered into seamless repeats for factory readiness.
- Illustrate entire collections, maintaining a consistent and elevated brand aesthetic across all visuals and ensuring cohesion in the final presentation.
- Collaborate closely with the Design and Technical Design teams to ensure all illustrations accurately reflect the intended garment construction, fit, and specific detailing.
- Prepare, update, and organize digital tech packs with comprehensive visual information, including Bill of Materials (BOM), multiple colorways, and detailed callouts for manufacturing partners.
- Render detailed illustrations with various colorways and fabric textures to explore design possibilities and support merchandising and assortment planning.
- Digitize and refine hand-drawn sketches into clean, vector-based illustrations suitable for technical packages and digital presentations.
- Create detailed artwork for placement graphics and embellishment layouts (e.g., embroidery, appliqué, screen prints) and provide precise specifications for their application.
- Update and meticulously revise sketches and technical packs based on feedback gathered from fittings, sample reviews, and cross-functional team meetings.
- Ensure all artwork is created to scale and strictly adheres to the specific technical requirements and standards for production.
- Participate actively in seasonal line sheet creation and maintenance, ensuring all illustrated styles are accurately represented with correct product information and details.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of garment construction, sewing techniques, and fabric properties to create accurate and highly manufacturable designs.
- Create compelling mood boards, concept boards, and presentation materials to visually communicate the seasonal design direction to internal teams, leadership, and external partners.
- Sketch live during design meetings and ideation sessions to quickly visualize concepts and facilitate creative brainstorming.
Secondary Functions
- Conduct in-depth trend research on emerging silhouettes, colors, prints, and materials to inform and inspire new illustrations and design concepts.
- Manage and maintain the digital asset library of all illustrations, sketches, and print files, ensuring proper organization and accessibility for the entire design team.
- Support the marketing and e-commerce teams by preparing high-resolution illustrations and flats for use in lookbooks, social media, and on the web.
- Research and propose new illustration techniques, software, and digital tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of the design workflow.
- Assist in creating polished presentation decks for key milestone meetings, including concept kickoffs, seasonal line reviews, and market presentations.
- Create detailed "how-to-measure" visual guides and annotated callouts on technical sketches to ensure clear and unambiguous communication with overseas factories.
