Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Expertly install a wide variety of fencing materials, including wood, vinyl, chain-link, aluminum, and ornamental iron, according to project specifications.
- Precisely measure, dig, and set fence posts in concrete, ensuring they are perfectly plumb, level, and aligned for maximum structural integrity.
- Safely and proficiently operate a range of power tools and heavy equipment, such as post-hole diggers, augers, skid steers, concrete mixers, and various saws.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and site plans to accurately lay out fence lines and determine material requirements.
- Prepare installation sites by clearing vegetation, performing minor grading, and removing obstacles to ensure a proper foundation for the fence.
- Assemble and install all types of gates and associated hardware, including latches, hinges, and automated openers, ensuring smooth and reliable operation.
- Perform detailed and durable repairs on existing fences, which includes replacing damaged posts, rails, panels, and fabric.
- Stretch and attach chain-link fabric or wire mesh with precision, achieving the correct tension for a secure and professional finish.
- Cut and shape fencing materials to size on-site using hand and power tools, adapting to terrain and property-specific needs.
- Conduct final quality control checks on all completed work to ensure it meets or exceeds company standards and client expectations.
- Dismantle and dispose of old or temporary fencing in an efficient and environmentally responsible manner before beginning new construction.
- Troubleshoot and resolve unforeseen challenges during installation, such as hitting underground utilities or dealing with difficult soil conditions.
- Work effectively in various weather conditions, demonstrating the resilience and adaptability required for outdoor construction.
- Drive company vehicles, including trucks towing trailers loaded with materials and equipment, to and from job sites safely.
Secondary Functions
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site at all times, including comprehensive cleanup upon project completion.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with clients on-site to provide project updates, answer questions, and ensure their vision is being met.

- Perform routine preventative maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on all company tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working order.

- Train and mentor apprentices or junior installers, sharing knowledge of best practices, safety procedures, and installation techniques.
