Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Execute thorough surface preparation, including pressure washing, scraping old paint, sanding rough areas, and filling cracks or holes to create an ideal surface for paint adhesion.
  • Meticulously protect all surrounding areas, including landscaping, walkways, and adjacent structures, by using drop cloths, plastic sheeting, and painter's tape.
  • Skillfully apply primers, stains, sealants, and paints to various fence materials, such as wood, metal (wrought iron, aluminum), and vinyl, using a variety of tools.
  • Operate and maintain professional painting equipment, including airless sprayers, brushes, and rollers, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
  • Mix paints and stains to achieve the specific color and consistency required by the client or project specifications.
  • Conduct detailed inspections of fences prior to painting to identify and report any structural damage, rot, or rust that may require repair.
  • Perform minor carpentry or metal repairs on fences to ensure structural integrity and a flawless finished appearance.
  • Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe ladder/scaffolding practices.
  • Ensure all applied coats of paint or stain are uniform, free of drips, runs, and holidays, achieving a high-quality, professional finish.
  • Manage your time and tasks effectively to ensure project deadlines are consistently met without compromising the quality of the work.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, crew leaders, and project managers regarding project progress, timelines, and any potential issues.
  • Calculate the required amounts of paint, primer, and other materials needed for each job to minimize waste and ensure project efficiency.
  • Conduct a final walkthrough and inspection of the completed work to guarantee it meets or exceeds client expectations and company quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site from start to finish, including a thorough cleanup of all tools, materials, and debris upon project completion.
  • Read and accurately interpret work orders, schematics, or client instructions to ensure all project requirements are fulfilled.
  • Handle and dispose of paint, solvents, and other chemical materials in an environmentally responsible and compliant manner.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by professionally addressing any client questions or concerns throughout the duration of the project.
  • Keep the work vehicle stocked with necessary supplies and maintain an accurate inventory of paints, tools, and equipment.
  • Document daily work progress and report any on-site incidents or challenges to the supervising manager promptly.
  • Work effectively both independently on smaller jobs and collaboratively as part of a larger painting crew on extensive projects.
