Primary Functions

  • Activate customer services on-site by connecting fiber to ONTs/GPON CPE, verifying signal levels, performing speed and service verification tests, and guiding customers through equipment setup and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of completed work in ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Salesforce, Field Service apps), update project trackers, submit test reports and close work orders to meet billing and SLA requirements.
  • Manage materials and inventory on trucks and at sites: verify fiber counts, connectors, splice closures, splitters, and consumables; report shortages; and ensure fiber residues and scrap are handled per environmental and safety policies.
  • Implement fiber cleaning and contamination control procedures to maintain low insertion loss and reflectance: use proper cleaning tools, inspect connectors with microscopes, and replace or re-terminate connectors when necessary.
  • Adhere to all safety policies including OSHA regulations, confined space procedures, traffic control, lockout/tagout, PPE usage, and company-specific safety programs while conducting installations or maintenance.
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, communicate constructability issues, provide field feedback on design changes, and collaborate with engineers and project managers to optimize routes and reduce rework.
  • Mentor and train junior technicians and subcontractors on best practices for splicing, testing, installation standards, safety and documentation to ensure consistent quality across crews.
