As a Field Account Executive, you are the face of our company in your assigned territory. This is a dynamic, high-impact role focused on identifying and closing new business opportunities while strategically managing and growing existing accounts. You will be a master of the entire sales process, from prospecting and needs analysis to negotiation and closing. We're seeking a self-starting "hunter" who thrives on autonomy, building meaningful relationships, and, most importantly, crushing sales targets. You'll spend a significant portion of your time on the road, meeting with key decision-makers and evangelizing our solution.

Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic territory plan to achieve and consistently exceed assigned sales quotas and revenue targets.
  • Proactively hunt for and qualify new business opportunities through a combination of cold calling, field prospecting, networking, and leveraging professional contacts.
  • Manage the entire, often complex, sales cycle from initial lead generation and discovery calls to crafting proposals, contract negotiation, and closing the deal.
  • Build and meticulously maintain a robust and accurate sales pipeline, ensuring all stages and data points are kept current within our CRM (Salesforce).
  • Conduct compelling, high-impact product demonstrations and solution presentations, both in-person and virtually, tailored to the unique business challenges of each prospect.
  • Establish, cultivate, and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders, executive sponsors, and decision-makers within your target accounts.
  • Become a deep subject matter expert on our full suite of products, the competitive landscape, and key industry trends to effectively position our unique value proposition.
  • Travel extensively (approximately 50-70%) within your assigned geographic territory to meet with prospective and existing customers, fostering face-to-face engagement.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including pre-sales engineers, marketing, and customer success, to orchestrate resources and ensure a seamless customer journey.
  • Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts and detailed pipeline reports to sales leadership on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Skillfully negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contract conditions to maximize revenue and profitability while ensuring mutual, long-term success.
  • Represent the company with a high degree of professionalism at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to generate qualified leads and enhance brand presence.
  • Master and clearly articulate the company's value proposition, effectively differentiating our solutions from competitors by focusing on business outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough needs-analysis sessions with prospects to uncover their critical business challenges, objectives, and pain points.
  • Develop and present customized, professional proposals and business cases that clearly quantify the return on investment (ROI) for the client.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing accounts within the territory, proactively identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling to expand our revenue footprint.
  • Stay current on all new product features, enhancements, and go-to-market strategies to effectively communicate updates to the market.
  • Document all sales activities, customer interactions, meeting notes, and pipeline progression meticulously in the CRM system to ensure data integrity.
  • Expertly handle and overcome objections from prospective customers by understanding their concerns and providing persuasive, value-based responses.
  • Work in close partnership with the implementation and onboarding teams to ensure a smooth and successful post-sale transition for new customers.
  • Analyze market data and territory potential to identify high-value target segments and accounts for focused outreach efforts.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), including activity metrics, pipeline generation, and quota attainment.

Secondary Functions

  • Analyze sales data and performance metrics to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and inform your ongoing territory strategy.
  • Provide structured feedback from the field to product and marketing teams to help shape the company's future product roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
  • Partner with the marketing department to develop and execute targeted campaigns, webinars, and lead generation programs within your territory.
  • Engage actively in regular team meetings, sales training sessions, and forecast calls to share best practices, collaborate with peers, and report on progress.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Deep proficiency with a major CRM platform, particularly Salesforce, for pipeline management and forecasting.
  • Proven expertise in strategic territory planning and management.
  • Mastery of a structured B2B sales methodology (e.g., MEDDIC, Challenger Sale, Solution Selling).
  • Experience with sales enablement and intelligence tools (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outreach, SalesLoft).
  • Strong command of presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides) to create and deliver compelling narratives.
  • Advanced contract negotiation and closing techniques.
  • Demonstrable skills in new business prospecting and lead generation.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, relevant work experience in a quota-carrying sales role.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 3-8 years of direct, quota-carrying B2B sales experience.

Preferred: At least 2+ years in a field sales or outside sales capacity. A consistent, documented track record of exceeding sales targets in a competitive market (e.g., President's Club). Experience selling SaaS, technology, or other complex solutions is highly desirable.
