Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Travel to various residential and commercial client sites to perform installations, maintenance, and repairs of electronic, security, telecommunication, or other specified systems.
- Execute the precise installation, termination, and testing of structured low-voltage cabling, including Cat5/6, fiber optic, and coaxial, ensuring adherence to building codes and project schematics.
- Mount and secure a wide range of hardware, such as cameras, sensors, control panels, antennas, displays, and network racks, using appropriate tools and mounting techniques.
- Read, interpret, and work from technical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals to ensure accurate deployment of equipment and systems.
- Perform comprehensive system configuration and software setup to ensure all components are communicating and functioning according to design specifications.
- Conduct thorough post-installation testing and commissioning procedures to verify system functionality and ensure it meets client requirements and quality standards.
- Systematically troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues with wiring, hardware, and software, implementing effective and timely solutions to resolve problems on-site.
- Provide clear and concise training and demonstrations to end-users, educating them on the proper use, features, and basic maintenance of the newly installed system.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times, strictly adhering to all company and OSHA safety protocols and procedures.
- Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of parts, tools, and equipment within a company-provided service vehicle.
- Complete detailed work orders, installation reports, and other necessary documentation in a timely and accurate manner using mobile software or paper forms.
- Interface directly with clients in a professional and courteous manner, addressing their questions and concerns to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, sales teams, and other technicians to coordinate installation schedules and resolve complex project challenges.
- Perform site surveys to assess project feasibility, identify potential obstacles, and gather information required for accurate project planning and quoting.
- Terminate and connect wires and cables to various components, such as control panels, junction boxes, and other network or electrical devices.
Secondary Functions
- Assist senior technicians and engineers with more complex, large-scale installations and system integrations.
- Participate actively in mandatory safety meetings, continuous education workshops, and certification programs to stay current with new technologies and industry best practices.
