Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Travel extensively to various on-site locations, including outdoor environments, corporate events, project sites, and client facilities, to capture high-resolution images and video content.
  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute photo shoots from start to finish, including developing shot lists and storyboards in collaboration with the marketing and creative teams.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain a wide range of professional photography equipment, including DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lenses, tripods, and advanced lighting systems (strobes, LEDs, reflectors).
  • Direct individuals and groups during photo shoots, providing clear guidance on posing, expression, and positioning to ensure a comfortable and successful session.
  • Perform advanced post-production on all digital images, including color correction, retouching, compositing, and cropping using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to meet brand standards.
  • Manage a high volume of digital assets, implementing a systematic process for naming, organizing, archiving, and retrieving photos for use across multiple platforms.
  • Scout potential shoot locations, assessing lighting conditions, accessibility, and environmental factors to determine the best approach for capturing the desired visual content.
  • Ensure all photography consistently aligns with the company's brand guidelines, visual identity, and overall marketing objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, marketing specialists, and designers to understand project requirements and deliver visual assets that meet specific campaign goals.
  • Maintain all company-owned and personal photography and lighting equipment, ensuring it is clean, functional, and ready for deployment at all times.
  • Capture a diverse range of photographic styles, including architectural, lifestyle, portrait, event, and product photography, adapting techniques to suit each unique assignment.
  • Proactively research and stay current with the latest photography trends, techniques, software, and camera technology to continuously elevate the quality of our visual content.
  • Work efficiently under tight deadlines, managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining an exceptional level of quality and attention to detail.
  • Manage logistics for field assignments, including coordinating travel schedules, shipping equipment, and securing necessary permits or permissions for access to locations.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges with camera settings, lighting, and other equipment in real-time while on location to prevent delays and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Provide creative input and actively participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute fresh ideas for visual storytelling and campaign concepts.
  • Handle the delivery of final, edited image files to relevant stakeholders in the correct format, size, and resolution for their intended use (web, print, social media).
  • Operate drones to capture compelling aerial photography and videography, ensuring full compliance with FAA regulations and safety protocols.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive and easily searchable library of stock images that reflects the company's culture, activities, and brand values.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and subjects on-site to build rapport, manage expectations, and ensure a positive and productive shoot environment.
  • Adapt to working in a variety of challenging environments and weather conditions, demonstrating resilience and problem-solving skills to capture high-quality content regardless of the circumstances.

Secondary Functions

  • Support the marketing and communications teams with ad-hoc image requests and exploratory visual searches within our digital asset management system.
  • Contribute to the organization's visual content strategy and brand style guide, providing expert insights on photographic best practices.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate their storytelling needs into concrete photography requirements and shot lists.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and agile marketing ceremonies to ensure visual content is seamlessly integrated into campaign timelines.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Expert Proficiency with Professional Cameras: Deep, hands-on knowledge of DSLR and mirrorless camera systems (e.g., Canon, Sony, Nikon), including manual settings for aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
  • Advanced Lighting Techniques: Mastery of both natural and artificial lighting, including multi-strobe setups, on-camera flash, reflectors, and continuous lighting for various scenarios.
  • Adobe Creative Suite Mastery: Expert-level skill in Adobe Lightroom Classic for culling and color grading, and Adobe Photoshop for high-end retouching, compositing, and manipulation.
  • Strong Compositional Skills: A natural eye for composition, framing, color theory, and perspective to create visually compelling and balanced images.
  • Digital Asset Management (DAM): Experience with organizing, keywording, and archiving large volumes of digital files using software like Photo Mechanic, Lightroom, or enterprise DAM systems.
  • Lens Expertise: Thorough understanding of different lens types (prime, zoom, wide-angle, telephoto) and their specific applications for achieving desired creative effects.
  • Tethered Shooting: Proficiency in shooting tethered to a computer for instant review and feedback from clients or art directors on set.
  • Videography & Basic Editing: Foundational skills in capturing high-quality video footage and performing basic edits in software like Adobe Premiere Pro is a strong plus.
  • Drone Operation: FAA Part 107 certification and experience piloting drones for aerial photography and videography is highly desirable.
  • Color Management: Knowledge of color calibration for screens and creating consistent color profiles for print and web outputs.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, supplemented by a strong, professional-grade portfolio.
