Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Directly supervise, coordinate, and schedule the daily activities of field crews, technicians, and subcontractors to ensure project milestones and productivity targets are consistently met.
- Champion and enforce all company, client, and OSHA safety regulations on-site, conducting regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations to maintain a zero-harm environment.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, inspectors, and stakeholders, providing clear, regular progress updates and resolving any issues promptly and professionally.
- Meticulously monitor project progress, workmanship, and quality control, ensuring all work performed strictly conforms to project plans, blueprints, specifications, and industry standards.
- Develop and implement detailed daily and weekly work plans, efficiently allocating personnel, equipment, and material resources to maximize operational efficiency.
- Manage and control project costs at the field level by tracking labor hours, material usage, and equipment time to ensure adherence to the project budget.
- Train, mentor, and develop field staff, providing ongoing coaching, constructive feedback, and formal performance evaluations to build a high-performing team.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and construction documents to guide field crews and ensure the accurate execution of the project scope.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical, logistical, and operational issues that arise in the field, making decisive and effective decisions under pressure to minimize delays.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely daily reports, progress logs, time sheets, incident reports, and other required documentation to project management.
- Manage on-site inventory, materials, and equipment, coordinating procurement and just-in-time delivery to prevent work stoppages and ensure resource availability.
- Conduct pre-construction site walks and assessments to identify potential risks, access challenges, and logistical requirements, contributing to effective project planning.
- Facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between field crews, project managers, engineers, and other internal departments to ensure project alignment.
- Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and security of all company vehicles, tools, and equipment assigned to the field team.
- Uphold a high standard of job site cleanliness and organization to promote a safe, professional, and efficient work environment.
- Conduct comprehensive quality assurance checks throughout the project lifecycle, from initial setup to final walkthrough, to minimize rework and punch-list items.
Secondary Functions
- Support ad-hoc project needs and assist in the resolution of customer service issues, ensuring timely and satisfactory outcomes.
- Assist project managers in the project planning and estimating phases by providing valuable field-level insights and practical expertise.
- Investigate, document, and report any site incidents, accidents, or near-misses, and participate in root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate with local utilities, municipal authorities, and other external agencies for permits, inspections, and site access as required for project execution.
- Participate in post-project review meetings to identify lessons learned, celebrate successes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes.
- Oversee the complete demobilization of the job site upon project completion, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and the site is restored to its required condition.
- Stay current with emerging industry trends, new installation techniques, materials, and best practices relevant to field operations and supervision.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Blueprint & Schematic Interpretation: High-level proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Deep knowledge of industry-specific safety standards and OSHA (e.g., 10/30) regulations.
- Project Management Software: Experience using field management or project management software such as Procore, Fieldwire, or MS Project.
- Technical Trade Expertise: Strong technical proficiency and hands-on experience in the specific industry (e.g., commercial construction, telecommunications, electrical, environmental services).
- Digital Reporting: Competency in using mobile devices, tablets, and software for daily reporting, timekeeping, and documentation.

Experience Requirements
