Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Spearhead the sourcing, evaluation, and acquisition of high-potential intellectual property, including screenplays, books, and original concepts, ensuring alignment with the company's creative mandate and market viability.
  • Oversee the entire script development process, providing critical creative feedback, hiring and managing writers, and guiding the narrative from initial draft to a production-ready screenplay.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive financing strategies, creating compelling investment packages and pitching to studios, private equity, film funds, and high-net-worth individuals to fully fund the production.
  • Architect the overall production strategy and budget, working with the Line Producer to create a realistic plan that balances creative ambition with financial constraints.
  • Recruit and attach key "above-the-line" talent, including directors, principal cast, and cinematographers, by leveraging an extensive network of industry relationships and negotiating competitive deals.
  • Provide high-level creative leadership throughout pre-production, production, and post-production, ensuring the director's vision remains intact and aligned with the project's original goals.
  • Negotiate and close major agreements, including talent contracts, financing deals, and distribution agreements, in collaboration with legal and business affairs teams.
  • Manage key stakeholder and investor relations, providing regular, transparent updates on project progress, budget adherence, and key milestones.
  • Supervise the entire post-production workflow, including editing, visual effects, sound design, and scoring, making key creative decisions to shape the final film.
  • Develop and oversee the film's global distribution and marketing strategy, working with distribution partners to maximize theatrical box office, streaming performance, and ancillary revenue streams.
  • Cultivate and maintain a robust network of industry contacts, including agents, managers, attorneys, financiers, and studio executives, to facilitate deal flow and project packaging.
  • Approve all major creative and financial decisions, holding ultimate accountability for delivering the film on-schedule, on-budget, and to the highest artistic standard.
  • Analyze market trends, box office data, and audience analytics to inform green-lighting decisions and identify commercially promising genres and concepts.
  • Act as the primary public face of the film during its production and release, participating in press, marketing events, and film festivals.
