Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively develop and cultivate a client base by identifying and networking with high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals, families, and institutions.
  • Conduct in-depth discovery meetings with prospective and existing clients to comprehensively understand their financial objectives, life goals, risk tolerance, and time horizons.
  • Design, construct, and present customized, holistic financial plans that encompass investment management, retirement planning, education funding, insurance needs, and estate planning.
  • Provide sophisticated investment advice and portfolio management services, including asset allocation, security selection, and rebalancing strategies aligned with client-specific mandates.
  • Continuously monitor client portfolios and global market conditions, making proactive adjustments and recommendations to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the full spectrum of investment products and services, including equities, fixed income, mutual funds, ETFs, alternative investments, and insurance/annuity products.
  • Educate clients on complex financial concepts, investment strategies, and market dynamics in a clear, concise, and accessible manner to foster financial literacy and confidence.
  • Schedule and lead regular client review meetings (quarterly, semi-annually, or annually) to assess progress toward goals, review portfolio performance, and update financial plans as life circumstances change.
  • Collaborate with clients' other professional advisors, such as CPAs and attorneys, to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to their overall wealth management strategy.
  • Uphold the highest standards of fiduciary duty and ethical conduct, ensuring all advice and actions are solely in the best interest of the client.
  • Drive asset and revenue growth by identifying opportunities to deepen existing client relationships and systematically gathering new client referrals.
  • Stay current with evolving industry regulations, compliance requirements, and FINRA/SEC guidelines, ensuring all activities are fully compliant.
  • Utilize advanced financial planning software and CRM systems to model financial scenarios, manage client data, and meticulously document all client interactions and recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals and presentations to prospective clients, clearly articulating the firm's value proposition and service model.
  • Analyze and interpret complex financial documents, including tax returns, investment statements, and estate planning documents, to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Guide clients through major life transitions, such as retirement, sale of a business, or inheritance, providing steady and strategic financial counsel.
  • Develop and implement strategies for tax-efficient investing and wealth transfer, working to maximize clients' after-tax returns and legacy impact.
  • Actively participate in business development activities, including seminars, workshops, and community events, to enhance personal and firm visibility.
  • Provide expert guidance on risk management, including life, disability, and long-term care insurance, to protect clients from unforeseen events.
  • Master and effectively communicate the firm’s investment philosophy, research, and capital market outlook to clients and prospects.
  • Generate and implement tailored solutions for concentrated stock positions, stock options, and other complex compensation structures for corporate executive clients.
  • Assist clients in establishing philanthropic goals and implementing charitable giving strategies through vehicles like donor-advised funds and private foundations.

Secondary Functions

  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior advisors, paraplanners, and support staff within the team.
  • Participate in internal investment committee meetings to contribute insights on market trends and strategy.
  • Attend industry conferences and continuing education sessions to maintain professional designations and stay at the forefront of the field.
  • Contribute to the firm's thought leadership by writing articles, blog posts, or participating in webinars on financial topics.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Financial Planning Software: Proficiency in tools like eMoney Advisor, MoneyGuidePro, or NaviPlan.
  • CRM Mastery: Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Redtail, or Wealthbox for client management.
  • Portfolio Management & Analytics: Deep understanding of asset allocation, modern portfolio theory, and performance measurement.
  • Securities Licensing: Active FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 (or Series 63 & 65) licenses are required.
  • Insurance Licensing: State-specific Life, Health, and Variable Annuity licenses.
  • Tax & Estate Planning Knowledge: Familiarity with tax-efficient strategies and wealth transfer concepts.
  • Market Analysis Tools: Ability to use platforms like Bloomberg Terminal, Morningstar Direct, or FactSet for research.
  • Risk Assessment: Quantitative and qualitative skills to accurately profile a client's risk tolerance.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
