Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop safe, effective, and highly engaging personalized fitness programs for a diverse clientele, considering their individual goals, fitness levels, and medical history.
- Conduct comprehensive initial fitness assessments and consultations to establish baseline metrics and craft a strategic path toward client success.
- Lead high-energy, motivating, and technically sound one-on-one and small group training sessions that deliver an exceptional experience.
- Demonstrate proper exercise form and technique, providing clear instructions and hands-on corrections to prevent injury and maximize results.
- Actively build and maintain a strong client base through proactive outreach, relationship building, and consistently delivering an unparalleled member experience.
- Provide foundational nutritional guidance and lifestyle coaching to complement fitness regimens and promote holistic, long-term wellness.
- Track, document, and analyze client progress meticulously, adjusting workout plans as needed to overcome plateaus and ensure continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive community atmosphere within the facility, encouraging member interaction, motivation, and camaraderie.
- Educate clients on the core principles of exercise science, proper nutrition, and healthy living, empowering them to take ownership of their fitness journey.
- Stay current with the latest fitness trends, scientific research, and industry best practices through continuous education and professional development.
- Act as a primary point of contact on the fitness floor, providing outstanding customer service by greeting members, answering questions, and offering assistance.
- Adapt training methodologies and exercises to safely and effectively accommodate clients with special conditions, injuries, or specific needs (e.g., seniors, prenatal/postnatal).
- Conduct regular follow-up communications with clients via phone, email, or app messaging to provide ongoing support, encouragement, and accountability between sessions.
- Promote and sell personal training packages, specialized workshops, and other fitness services that align with member needs and goals.
Secondary Functions
- Design and lead specialized fitness workshops or challenges focused on topics like weight loss, strength building, or event-specific training.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workout environment, including the proper care, cleaning, and routine maintenance of all fitness equipment.
- Enforce all gym policies and safety procedures to ensure a secure and respectful environment for all members and staff.
- Perform essential administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing client records in our CRM, and processing payments accurately.
- Actively participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and staff development events to contribute to our collective success.
- Collaborate with the marketing team by contributing to social media, sharing success stories (with client permission), and acting as a brand ambassador in the community.
- Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies for new program launches and fitness initiatives.
- Support ad-hoc member requests and provide impromptu fitness advice and spot-assists on the gym floor.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Nationally Recognized Personal Training Certification (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM, ISSA) is required.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification must be current or obtained upon hire.
- Strong Foundational Knowledge of Human Anatomy, Kinesiology, and Exercise Physiology.
- Proficiency in Fitness Assessment: Ability to conduct movement screens, body composition analysis, and cardiovascular testing.
- Equipment Versatility: Experience and confidence in using and teaching on a wide range of equipment including free weights, selectorized machines, and functional fitness tools.
- Nutritional Literacy: Solid understanding of basic nutrition principles and the ability to provide general dietary guidance.
