Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, publish, and maintain short-term, seasonal, and long-range flight schedules to align with corporate strategic goals and profitability targets.
  • Analyze market demand, competitor schedules, and historical performance data to identify opportunities for new routes, frequency adjustments, and network optimization.
  • Optimize aircraft utilization and fleet assignment to maximize revenue potential and operational efficiency while considering aircraft maintenance requirements and performance capabilities.
  • Manage and negotiate airport slots (takeoff and landing rights) at constrained airports, ensuring full compliance with IATA Worldwide Slot Guidelines (WSG) and local regulations.
  • Conduct detailed profitability analysis and P&L modeling for existing routes and potential new markets, providing data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with the Revenue Management department to ensure schedule decisions are synchronized with pricing, inventory, and yield strategies.
  • Work in tandem with Fleet Planning to guarantee schedule feasibility based on aircraft delivery timelines, retirement plans, and reconfiguration schedules.
  • Ensure all published schedules meticulously adhere to flight and duty crew legalities, maintenance requirements, and airport operational constraints like curfews and gate availability.
  • Model and evaluate the financial and operational impact of various schedule scenarios, including changes in block times, turn times, and aircraft gauge.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive schedule proposals, performance reports, and competitive analyses to executive management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Monitor real-time operational performance and make tactical schedule adjustments to mitigate disruptions caused by weather, air traffic control, or other factors.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for all internal departments (including Operations, Marketing, Sales, and Crew Planning) regarding schedule-related inquiries and initiatives.
  • Utilize advanced scheduling and optimization software (e.g., Sabre AirVision, NetLine/Sched, Amadeus SkySYM) to build, analyze, and refine flight schedules.
  • Maintain the absolute integrity of the schedule database and ensure accurate, timely distribution of schedule information to all relevant internal and external systems (GDS, OAG).
  • Evaluate the network impact of codeshare agreements and interline partnerships, incorporating partner schedules to enhance connectivity and passenger flow.
  • Perform rigorous post-departure analysis to assess schedule reliability and robustness, identifying root causes of delays and proposing corrective actions.
  • Support the development and implementation of new scheduling methodologies, tools, and technologies to continuously enhance planning capabilities and efficiency.
  • Liaise with government and regulatory bodies (e.g., FAA, EASA, DOT) to ensure schedule compliance and support new route applications and authorities.
  • Forecast and manage block time performance, proactively adjusting future schedules based on historical data and anticipated operational changes.
  • Conduct in-depth competitive landscape analysis, benchmarking our network structure, connectivity, and schedule quality against key airline competitors.
  • Develop robust contingency plans and alternative schedules to support irregular operations (IROPS) recovery and ensure business continuity during major disruptions.

Required Skills & Competencies
