Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Execute comprehensive floor stripping, sealing, and finishing procedures on various hard surfaces, such as VCT, terrazzo, and concrete, applying multiple coats of wax to achieve a durable, high-gloss finish.
Operate and maintain heavy-duty floor care equipment including high-speed burnishers, automatic scrubbers, carpet extractors, and wet/dry vacuums to ensure optimal performance and cleanliness.
Perform deep cleaning and restoration of carpets and rugs using methods like hot water extraction, shampooing, and bonnet cleaning to remove embedded soil and stains.
Conduct routine polishing, buffing, and spray-buffing on hard surface floors to remove scuffs and restore shine, maintaining a consistently high-quality appearance.
Safely and accurately dilute, handle, and apply a wide range of industrial cleaning, stripping, and finishing chemicals according to manufacturer specifications and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Perform daily and periodic floor maintenance tasks, including dust mopping, damp mopping, and scrubbing, to maintain cleanliness and slip-resistance in high-traffic areas.
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including the consistent use of "Wet Floor" signs, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe equipment handling to prevent accidents and injuries.
Accurately identify different types of flooring materials (e.g., VCT, LVT, terrazzo, marble, hardwood, ceramic) to determine and apply the correct cleaning and maintenance procedures.
Conduct routine preventative maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on all floor care equipment to ensure operational readiness and extend its service life.
Perform specialized floor care treatments, such as marble crystallization and terrazzo grinding/honing, to restore natural stone surfaces.
Execute detailed edge and corner cleaning manually or with specialized tools to ensure a uniform appearance across the entire floor surface.
Respond to and resolve floor care emergencies, such as spills and water damage, in a timely and effective manner to mitigate damage and safety hazards.
Maintain accurate logs and records of completed tasks, maintenance performed, and areas serviced for quality assurance, inventory, and reporting purposes.
Manage and complete special floor care projects as assigned, which may include post-construction cleanup, restorative work, or event-specific preparations.
Follow a detailed floor care schedule to ensure all designated areas are maintained according to established quality standards and frequencies.
Troubleshoot and resolve common floor care issues, such as wax buildup, discoloration, stubborn stains, or equipment malfunctions.
Coordinate with other facilities staff and department managers to schedule floor work in a manner that minimizes disruption to building operations and occupants.

Secondary Functions
