Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Deliver an exceptional customer service experience by warmly greeting every guest, proactively offering assistance, and providing knowledgeable guidance on our floral products and services.
- Skillfully design and create a wide variety of floral arrangements, including standard bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and custom pieces, tailored to customer specifications and seasonal availability.
- Accurately take and process customer orders in-person, over the phone, and through online platforms, ensuring all details for delivery, pickup, and special requests are correctly captured and executed.
- Efficiently process incoming floral shipments, which includes unpacking, trimming stems, conditioning flowers, and hydrating plants to ensure maximum freshness and longevity.
- Create and maintain visually appealing and abundant merchandise displays, rotating stock to highlight fresh products and promotional items to attract customers and drive sales.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and other retail technology to handle customer transactions, including cash, credit, and gift card payments, with accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide customers with detailed care instructions for cut flowers, arrangements, and potted plants to ensure their satisfaction and the longevity of their purchase.
- Monitor and maintain the health and quality of all flowers and plants in the department, removing any expired or subpar product from the sales floor immediately.
- Manage departmental inventory by keeping track of stock levels for flowers, plants, and essential supplies like vases, foam, ribbons, and wrapping materials.
- Drive sales by actively engaging customers, upselling complementary items, and informing them of current promotions, specials, and seasonal offerings.
- Prepare and wrap floral arrangements and plants securely and attractively for customer transport, ensuring the product is protected and presentation is professional.
- Manage special orders for holidays, weddings, funerals, and other events, coordinating with customers to meet deadlines and design expectations.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of flower and plant varieties, including seasonality, color, and typical use in arrangements.
- Proactively manage the water levels and quality in flower buckets and vases, changing water regularly and using preservatives to extend floral life.
Secondary Functions
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including coolers, design tables, and the sales floor, adhering to all company safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts and collaborate with the department manager on supply ordering to ensure the department is well-stocked.
