Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Execute and maintain all visual merchandising standards for the floral department, ensuring displays are fresh, abundant, and visually appealing to drive customer engagement and sales.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of floral inventory, including ordering fresh flowers, plants, and supplies based on sales data, seasonal demand, and promotional activity.
  • Implement proper care and handling techniques for all floral and plant products to maximize freshness, extend shelf life, and minimize spoilage and waste.
  • Design and create a variety of floral arrangements, bouquets, and custom designs that align with company recipes, seasonal trends, and customer requests.
  • Proactively engage with customers to provide exceptional service, offering expert advice on flower care, selection, and arrangement options to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Set and maintain planograms and modular layouts for the floral department, ensuring product placement is logical, attractive, and optimized for sales performance.
  • Monitor and analyze sales reports and inventory data to identify trends, top-selling items, and slow-moving products, adjusting merchandising and ordering strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and signage for all floral products, implementing promotions and markdowns as directed by company guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including coolers, prep areas, and the sales floor, adhering to all company and food safety standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Execute all seasonal and holiday floral programs, including setup, production planning, and merchandising to capitalize on peak sales periods.
  • Train and mentor new floral associates on product knowledge, care and handling procedures, merchandising standards, and customer service excellence.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system, including special orders and delivery requests.
  • Actively participate in store meetings and contribute ideas for improving the floral department's performance and customer experience.
  • Manage the departmental budget for supplies, labor, and inventory, working to meet or exceed sales and profitability targets.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on incoming floral shipments to ensure they meet our high standards for freshness and quality.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new flower varieties, and innovative merchandising techniques to keep the department fresh and competitive.
  • Collaborate with store management and other department leads to coordinate cross-promotional opportunities and store-wide events.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints related to the floral department promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive resolution.
  • Prepare and wrap flowers and plants for customers, ensuring they are well-protected and presented beautifully for transport.
