Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Safely and efficiently operate high-pressure, plural-component spray equipment, including proportioners, transfer pumps, hoses, and various spray guns.
Perform meticulous preparation of job sites, including the extensive masking, taping, and covering of floors, windows, and other surfaces to protect them from overspray.
Evaluate substrate conditions, checking for moisture, cleanliness, and temperature to ensure proper chemical reaction and adhesion of the foam.
4ar. Apply both open-cell and closed-cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF) to a variety of surfaces, such as wall cavities, roof decks, attics, and crawl spaces, per project specifications.
4br. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders to determine the precise location and required thickness of insulation.
Maintain consistent foam texture, yield, and thickness by carefully monitoring equipment temperatures, pressures, and your application technique.
Conduct rigorous daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the spray rig, truck, generator, compressor, and all associated machinery to ensure operational safety and readiness.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all spray foam equipment, including the daily cleaning and rebuilding of spray guns, checking filters, and lubricating pumps.
8ar. Strictly adhere to all company and OSHA safety protocols, with a primary focus on the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including full-face respirators, chemical-resistant suits, and gloves.
8br. Establish and manage proper ventilation at the job site using fans and ducting to ensure a safe breathing environment for the entire crew and building occupants.
Trim, carve, and scrape cured foam as required to achieve a smooth, uniform surface or to ensure it is flush with framing for drywall installation.
Communicate professionally and effectively with crew members, site supervisors, general contractors, and clients to provide project updates and proactively address any on-site challenges.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, both within the spray rig and throughout the customer's property.
Diligently document daily progress, including square footage covered, material usage, and any project notes or incidents in daily field reports.
Safely load, unload, and handle 55-gallon drums of chemical materials (Isocyanate and Resin), ensuring proper storage and handling procedures are followed.
Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot common foam application issues in real-time, such as poor rise, cracking, or off-ratio spraying, and implement corrective actions.
Act as a mentor by training and guiding apprentice technicians or helpers on best practices for safety, equipment operation, and application techniques.
Manage the on-site inventory of chemical materials, diesel fuel, tools, and safety supplies to prevent project delays.
Perform final quality control inspections to guarantee the insulation barrier is seamless and fully meets the project's thermal and air sealing requirements.
Execute the complete breakdown and demobilization of the job site, ensuring all masking, debris, and equipment are removed and the area is left cleaner than when you arrived.

Secondary Functions

Assist the sales and estimating team by providing insights on material needs and labor hours for upcoming projects.
Actively participate in and contribute to daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings to foster a strong safety culture.
Provide constructive feedback to management on equipment performance, material quality, and potential process improvements.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Spray Equipment Proficiency: Deep knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plural-component spray equipment (e.g., Graco Reactors, PMC).
Chemical Knowledge: Strong understanding of open-cell vs. closed-cell foam properties, applications, and reaction processes.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
Building Science Fundamentals: Solid understanding of building science principles, including heat transfer, air infiltration, and moisture management.
Mechanical Aptitude: Proven ability to perform mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on pumps, engines, and spray guns.
Safety Protocol Expertise: Thorough familiarity with OSHA safety standards, particularly regarding respiratory protection, fall protection, and chemical handling.

Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is typically required; a CDL is often a significant plus.
