Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain a variety of food processing equipment, such as industrial mixers, blenders, cutters, ovens, and cookers, according to standard operating procedures.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and mix raw ingredients based on detailed batch sheets and production formulas to ensure product consistency.
  • Load raw materials into production machinery and unload finished or semi-finished products for the next stage of the manufacturing process.
  • Conduct in-process quality control checks, including visual inspections, temperature readings, and texture assessments, to identify and report any deviations from quality standards.
  • Execute the packaging of finished goods, which includes filling, sealing, boxing, and labeling products in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a meticulously clean and sanitary work environment by regularly cleaning and sanitizing equipment, tools, and production areas to prevent cross-contamination and adhere to food safety laws.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and company-specific safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment and product integrity.
  • Meticulously document production and quality control data, such as batch numbers, ingredient lot codes, processing times, and temperature logs, on paper or in a digital system.
  • Set up and calibrate production machinery at the beginning of shifts and perform basic troubleshooting to address minor operational issues and minimize downtime.
  • Handle and transfer raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products throughout the facility, which may involve manual lifting or the use of pallet jacks.
  • Monitor the flow of the production line to ensure efficiency and smooth operation, making adjustments as necessary to meet production targets.
  • Sort, grade, and inspect ingredients and processed foods to remove defects and ensure only the highest quality materials are used.
  • Adhere strictly to production schedules and deadlines to fulfill customer orders and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Safely handle and dispose of waste materials generated during the production process in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with supervisors, quality control personnel, and other production staff to coordinate tasks and resolve issues.
  • Perform repetitive tasks with precision and consistency, maintaining focus and high standards throughout the entire shift.
  • Stack and arrange finished product cases onto pallets, preparing them for shipment or storage in the warehouse.
  • Adapt to working in various environmental conditions, which may include refrigerated, frozen, or heated areas of the production facility.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or food safety concerns to the shift supervisor or maintenance team immediately.
  • Assist in changeovers, which involves cleaning, sanitizing, and setting up production lines for different products.

  • Assist in the training and onboarding of new team members, demonstrating proper machine operation, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs by providing suggestions for enhancing process efficiency, safety, and product quality.
  • Support inventory management efforts by assisting with periodic cycle counts and reporting discrepancies in raw materials or packaging supplies.
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance tasks on equipment, such as lubrication and basic adjustments, under the guidance of the maintenance department.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Machine Operation: Proficiency in operating and monitoring food production equipment (e.g., fillers, sealers, mixers).
  • Knowledge of GMP/HACCP: Solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety principles to ensure product safety and compliance.
  • Basic Math & Measurement: Ability to perform accurate calculations for weighing ingredients and following recipes.
  • Sanitation Procedures: Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitizing techniques for food-grade equipment and surfaces.
  • Quality Control Inspection: Skill in visually inspecting products and raw materials to identify defects and ensure they meet specifications.
  • Documentation & Record-Keeping: Ability to accurately complete production logs, quality sheets, and other necessary paperwork.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 0-3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, kitchen, or food service environment.

Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of direct experience working on a fast-paced production line within the food and beverage industry is highly desirable. Experience in a GMP-regulated environment is a significant plus.
