Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of incoming raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods to ensure they meet strict company and regulatory specifications.
  • Perform and document a wide range of quality control tests, including organoleptic (taste, smell, appearance), physical (weight, dimension), chemical (pH, moisture, Brix), and microbiological analyses.
  • Diligently monitor all production stages to verify compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and food safety protocols.
  • Enforce the facility's Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan by monitoring CCPs, verifying records, and initiating corrective actions when deviations occur.
  • Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials and products, placing them on hold and assisting in the disposition process to prevent their unintended use.
  • Maintain meticulous, accurate, and timely documentation of all inspections, test results, and corrective actions in quality logs, batch records, and digital systems.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and inspection equipment (e.g., scales, thermometers, pH meters) to ensure consistent and accurate measurements.
  • Perform pre-operational inspections and ATP swabbing to verify the effectiveness of sanitation procedures before production startup.
  • Collect and prepare product and environmental samples for external laboratory analysis, ensuring proper handling and chain of custody.
  • Verify product labeling, date coding, and packaging integrity to ensure accuracy and compliance with both internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Immediately communicate significant quality or food safety issues to the Quality Assurance Supervisor and relevant production leadership for swift resolution.
  • Assist in the investigation of customer complaints and internal quality incidents by gathering data, inspecting retained samples, and participating in root cause analysis.
  • Actively participate in and provide support for internal, third-party (e.g., SQF, BRC), and regulatory (e.g., FDA, USDA) audits.
