Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Proactively engage with customers on the sales floor, creating a welcoming atmosphere and identifying their specific footwear needs through active listening and insightful questioning.
- Provide an exceptional fitting experience, accurately measuring customers' feet and utilizing specialized tools and knowledge (e.g., gait analysis) to ensure optimal comfort and performance.
- Demonstrate comprehensive product knowledge across all brands, styles, and technologies, clearly articulating features and benefits to help customers make informed decisions.
- Drive sales by recommending appropriate footwear, accessories, and care products, effectively up-selling and cross-selling to enhance the customer's purchase.
- Master the point-of-sale (POS) system to efficiently and accurately process transactions, including sales, returns, and exchanges, while adhering to all cash handling procedures.
- Build and maintain a loyal client base by establishing personal connections, following up on purchases, and informing customers of new arrivals and promotional events.
- Assist customers with special orders, online fulfillment (BOPIS/SFS), and locating sizes or styles not available on the sales floor by checking backstock or other store locations.
- Maintain an expert-level understanding of current footwear trends, new product launches, and the competitive landscape to serve as a credible resource for both customers and team members.
- Confidently address and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints with empathy and professionalism, ensuring a positive resolution and brand experience.
- Act as a brand ambassador, embodying the company's values and service standards in every interaction to foster a positive and high-performing store culture.
Secondary Functions
- Execute the replenishment of the sales floor from the stockroom, ensuring all sizes are represented and footwear displays remain full and appealing throughout the day.
- Participate in the receipt, unpacking, and processing of new footwear shipments, ensuring items are correctly priced, sensored for security, and prepared for the sales floor.
- Assist in maintaining the visual integrity of the footwear department, including organizing displays, updating signage, and ensuring the area is clean and free of clutter.
- Meticulously organize and maintain the stockroom, ensuring footwear is sorted by brand, style, and size for efficient retrieval and inventory management.
- Support regular inventory counts and cycle counts, demonstrating high attention to detail to help maintain accurate stock levels and minimize shrinkage.
- Collaborate with the visual merchandising team to implement new floor sets, promotional displays, and seasonal changes according to company directives.
- Proactively learn about other departments and product categories to provide well-rounded support to the entire store team and assist a wider range of customers.
- Adhere to all loss prevention policies and procedures, including monitoring for potential theft and correctly applying security tags to merchandise.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay current on product knowledge, sales techniques, and operational updates.
- Assist with general store upkeep duties, such as cleaning, tidying fitting areas, and ensuring a safe shopping environment for everyone.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Proficiency with retail Point of Sale (POS) systems and credit card terminals.
- Experience using RF scanners and other inventory management hardware.
- Knowledge of footwear fitting techniques and tools (e.g., Brannock device).
- Understanding of different shoe constructions, materials, and technologies (e.g., EVA, Gore-Tex, Flyknit).
- Competency in basic retail math for calculating discounts and processing transactions.
- Experience with Buy Online, Pick-Up In-Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS) fulfillment systems.

Education & Experience
Educational Background
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range: 0 - 3 years of experience in a customer-facing role.
Preferred:

- Experience working in a commission-based sales environment is beneficial but not required.
