Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Conduct comprehensive in-line, end-of-line, and final AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) inspections on finished footwear to ensure they meet all brand standards.
- Meticulously examine all aspects of the shoe, including stitching, cementing, assembly, finishing, and overall cosmetic appearance for any defects.
- Verify that raw materials such as leather, textiles, synthetics, and outsole components conform to approved specifications and quality benchmarks.
- Perform a variety of physical tests on footwear, including flex testing, bond adhesion tests, and hardness checks to ensure product durability and performance.
- Accurately measure product dimensions and components against technical sheets and graded specifications to guarantee proper fit and construction.
- Assess and approve color, texture, and material finish against approved master swatches and tolerance ranges.
- Identify, document, and clearly communicate any non-conformities, defects, or quality deviations to production supervisors and quality management.
- Prepare detailed and accurate inspection reports, complete with photographic evidence and clear descriptions of all findings for traceability and analysis.
- Physically segregate and control non-conforming products to prevent them from being mixed with approved inventory.
- Interpret complex technical packets, blueprints, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure the final product aligns perfectly with the design intent.
- Oversee the packing and labeling process, confirming that cartons, hangtags, and SKU information are accurate for each shipment.
- Evaluate and approve pre-production samples, size sets, and confirmation samples before authorizing bulk production to commence.
Secondary Functions
- Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis to identify recurring quality trends and patterns.
- Contribute to the organization's data strategy by providing accurate and timely quality metrics from the production floor.
- Collaborate with business units, including Product Development and Engineering, to translate quality feedback into actionable design and manufacturing improvements.
- Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the broader Quality Assurance team to drive process enhancements.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and refinement of quality control procedures, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
- Provide training and guidance to new inspectors and production line workers on quality standards and defect identification.
- Participate in root cause analysis sessions to help determine the source of quality issues and contribute to effective corrective action plans.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of measurements and tests.
