Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Act as a master brand ambassador, embodying the brand's luxury image and values while demonstrating expert knowledge of the entire fragrance portfolio, including ingredients, olfactive families, and the story behind each creation.
  • Achieve and consistently exceed individual sales goals and other key performance indicators (KPIs), such as units per transaction (UPT) and average dollar sale (ADS), through proactive client engagement and sophisticated sales techniques.
  • Provide an exceptional and highly personalized customer experience by expertly discovering client needs, recommending tailored fragrance solutions, and creating memorable, consultative interactions.
  • Build and meticulously maintain a loyal clientele through dedicated follow-up, proactive outreach, and the management of a personal client book, recording preferences and purchase history to foster long-term relationships.
  • Conduct immersive and educational fragrance consultations, confidently guiding clients on a sensory journey to explore different scent profiles and discover their perfect signature fragrance.
  • Drive sales by effectively cross-selling and up-selling with complementary products from the brand's portfolio, such as bath & body lines or home fragrances, to create a complete scent experience.
  • Proactively recruit new customers to the brand by networking within the store environment and demonstrating a welcoming, approachable demeanor to all potential clients, turning passing interest into a sale.
  • Execute in-store events, promotions, and new product launches with energy and enthusiasm, actively engaging traffic to drive event success, build brand awareness, and capture client data.
  • Demonstrate and educate clients on proper fragrance application techniques, such as scent layering, to enhance the longevity and personal expression of their chosen fragrance.
  • Handle all customer service issues, questions, and returns with the utmost professionalism and empathy, seeking to find a positive resolution that upholds the brand's luxury standard.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with store management and colleagues to create a positive, collaborative team environment that contributes to the overall success of the department and store.
  • Stay current and educated on fragrance industry trends, competitor activities, and new innovations to position yourself as a true and trusted expert in the field.
  • Confidently and graciously share the unique heritage and narrative of the brand, transforming a simple transaction into a meaningful and emotional brand connection.
  • Utilize digital clienteling tools and platforms (where applicable) to maintain client relationships, communicate new launches, and offer personalized service beyond the physical counter.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain impeccable counter presentation and visual merchandising standards, ensuring the display is always clean, organized, well-stocked, and compliant with brand directives.
  • Diligently manage and monitor all inventory levels, including testers and saleable stock, participating in regular stock counts and communicating replenishment needs to management to prevent out-of-stocks.
  • Process all sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system, expertly handling cash, credit, and returns in accordance with all company policies.
  • Assist with the daily operational duties of the counter, including opening and closing procedures, cleaning and sanitizing testers, and preparing for the day's business.
  • Actively participate in all required brand, retailer, and compliance training sessions to continuously develop deep product knowledge, enhance selling skills, and stay informed on policies.
  • Ensure all loss prevention and security procedures are followed with vigilance to protect company assets, including products, cash, and property.
  • Offer and provide elegant gift-wrapping services, adding a final touch of luxury to the customer's purchasing experience, especially during peak gifting seasons.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Olfactory Knowledge: Deep understanding of fragrance families, notes (top, middle, base), raw materials, and the art of perfumery.
  • Sales Techniques: Proven ability in consultative selling, cross-selling, up-selling, and closing sales in a retail environment.
  • Clienteling: Expertise in building and maintaining a client book, using CRM tools or personal systems to track customer preferences and purchase history.
  • POS Systems: Proficiency in operating Point of Sale (POS) terminals for processing various transaction types accurately.
  • Visual Merchandising: A keen eye for detail and the ability to maintain brand presentation standards for product displays and counter hygiene.
  • Inventory Management: Basic understanding of stock control, cycle counts, and the importance of maintaining optimal inventory levels.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
