Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) across the entire order-to-delivery lifecycle, including order processing times, on-time shipping, delivery accuracy, and cost-per-order.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and reporting tools using platforms like Tableau or Power BI to provide stakeholders with real-time visibility into fulfillment performance.
  • Conduct deep-dive root cause analysis on fulfillment exceptions, such as shipping delays, incorrect shipments, and damages, to identify underlying issues and implement preventative measures.
  • Collaborate directly with warehouse and operations teams to optimize workflows for picking, packing, and shipping, aiming to improve speed, accuracy, and labor efficiency.
  • Analyze inventory levels, velocity, and accuracy within the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to minimize stockouts, reduce excess inventory, and improve inventory turnover.
  • Develop forecasting models to predict future order volumes, enabling proactive planning for labor, supplies, and warehouse capacity based on seasonality and promotional events.
  • Identify, scope, and lead process improvement projects aimed at reducing operational costs, enhancing service levels, and increasing scalability within the fulfillment network.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for our WMS and ERP systems, partnering with IT to troubleshoot issues, configure settings, and define requirements for system enhancements.
  • Investigate and resolve complex customer escalations related to fulfillment, providing clear communication and data-backed solutions to customer service teams.
  • Manage and evaluate the performance of third-party logistics (3PL) providers and shipping carriers, holding them accountable to service level agreements (SLAs) and negotiating favorable terms.
  • Perform detailed cost-benefit analysis of various shipping methods, carriers, and service levels to continuously optimize logistics spend without compromising the customer experience.
  • Ensure operational compliance with carrier regulations and major retail partners' stringent routing guides and vendor requirements to avoid chargebacks and penalties.
  • Provide critical data-driven insights and fulfillment capacity analysis to support the monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle.
  • Model the financial and operational impact of proposed changes to the fulfillment network, such as opening new distribution centers or implementing new automation technology.
  • Create, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all key fulfillment processes to ensure consistency and facilitate training.
  • Analyze reverse logistics data, including return reasons and product conditions, to identify trends that can inform product quality improvements and reduce overall return rates.
  • Act as the primary analytical point of contact for cross-functional partners in Merchandising, Marketing, and Finance, providing data to support their initiatives.
  • Lead projects to evaluate, select, and implement new fulfillment technologies, such as automated packing machines, robotic picking systems, or advanced sorting equipment.
  • Regularly audit operational processes on-site to ensure adherence to established SOPs and identify opportunities for on-the-floor improvements.
  • Translate ambiguous business questions from leadership into well-defined analytical projects, delivering clear and concise presentations with actionable recommendations.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis from various business units.
  • Contribute to the organization's broader data strategy and infrastructure roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate high-level data needs into specific engineering and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies within the data and analytics teams.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel: Mastery of complex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, macros, and data modeling to manipulate and analyze large datasets.
  • SQL Proficiency: The ability to write efficient SQL queries to extract, join, and manipulate data from relational databases and data warehouses.
  • Data Visualization: Expertise in creating insightful and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar BI platforms.
  • WMS/ERP Systems: Hands-on experience with major Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., Manhattan, Blue Yonder, SAP EWM, Oracle NetSuite).
  • Statistical Analysis: Foundational knowledge of statistical concepts and experience applying them to forecasting, trend analysis, and A/B testing.
  • Supply Chain Principles: Strong understanding of core supply chain and logistics concepts, including inventory management, transportation, and warehouse operations.
  • Process Mapping: Skill in diagramming current-state and future-state workflows to identify inefficiencies and communicate proposed changes.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage small to medium-sized projects, track milestones, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of cost accounting and the ability to perform cost-benefit analysis for operational initiatives.
  • Data Cleansing and Transformation: Experience in identifying data quality issues, cleaning raw data, and preparing it for analysis.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a quantitative or relevant field.
