Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Accurately pick customer orders from designated warehouse locations using an RF scanner or pick list to ensure item and quantity precision.
- Expertly pack orders into appropriate-sized boxes with protective materials to prevent damage during transit, maintaining a high standard of presentation.
- Generate and affix correct shipping labels, packing slips, and any required documentation to packages, ensuring they are ready for carrier pickup.
- Receive, unload, and process incoming inventory shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders to confirm accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Inspect incoming products for damage, defects, or quality issues, and report any findings to the warehouse management team.
- Efficiently stock and replenish inventory in primary picking locations from overstock areas to ensure continuous order fulfillment.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, dollies, and hand trucks safely and effectively to move inventory throughout the warehouse.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by adhering to 5S principles and company safety protocols to prevent accidents and hazards.
- Perform systematic cycle counts and physical inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy and assist in resolving discrepancies.
- Process, inspect, and restock customer returns according to company policy, grading products for resale, or disposition.
- Stage and sort completed packages by carrier (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS) to streamline the pickup and shipping process.
- Collaborate closely with team members and shift leads to meet and exceed daily productivity goals, quality standards, and fulfillment deadlines.
- Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track order status, manage inventory levels, and perform various fulfillment tasks.
- Build, wrap, and stage pallets for bulk freight shipments, ensuring they are stable, secure, and properly labeled.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new fulfillment associates, sharing best practices for safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with fulfillment equipment, such as RF scanners, tape guns, and label printers.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing warehouse processes, reducing waste, and increasing productivity.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any fulfillment challenges, inventory shortages, or system issues that may impact operations.
- Handle and prepare products that require special assembly, kitting, or value-added services before shipment.
- Adapt to cross-training in other warehouse departments, such as receiving or inventory control, to support overall operational needs.
- Consistently follow all established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- RF Scanner Proficiency: Experience using handheld RF scanners for picking, receiving, and inventory tasks.
- Warehouse Management System (WMS) Experience: Familiarity with WMS platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Manhattan, ShipStation, or proprietary systems).
- Material Handling Equipment Operation: Ability to safely operate manual and electric pallet jacks; forklift certification is a strong plus.
- Basic Computer Literacy: Competency in using basic computer applications for tasks like printing labels and looking up order information.
- Shipping Software Knowledge: Experience with carrier software such as UPS WorldShip or FedEx Ship Manager is desirable.
- Inventory Counting: Proven ability to perform accurate cycle counts and participate in physical inventory audits.
