Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Accurately interpret picking tickets and utilize RF scanners or manual lists to locate and select products from warehouse shelves and storage locations with a high degree of precision.
  • Expertly pack customer orders, selecting appropriate packaging materials to ensure product safety and integrity during transit while optimizing for dimensional weight and shipping costs.
  • Generate and affix accurate shipping labels, packing slips, and any required customs documentation for domestic and international shipments, ensuring full compliance with carrier requirements.
  • Manage the end-to-end shipping process, coordinating with major carriers like UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS to schedule daily pickups and meticulously track outbound shipments.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming inventory shipments against purchase orders or advance shipping notices, noting any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues and reporting them promptly.
  • Efficiently process and manage customer returns (RMAs), inspecting returned items for condition, restocking sellable goods into inventory, and coordinating with the customer service team to process refunds or exchanges.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in comprehensive physical inventory audits to maintain a high level of inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies for investigation and resolution.
  • Operate and maintain warehouse equipment safely and proficiently, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, and potentially forklifts, while adhering to all established safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment by breaking down cardboard, sweeping floors, organizing storage areas, and adhering to company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Proactively monitor and replenish fulfillment supplies such as boxes, mailers, tape, and dunnage to prevent operational downtime and ensure workflow continuity.
  • Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to update order statuses, manage inventory levels, and track all fulfillment activities.
  • Collaborate directly with the Customer Service department to resolve order-related issues, such as shipping delays, incorrect items, or address changes, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
  • Perform rigorous quality control checks on all outbound orders to verify item accuracy, quantity, and packaging quality before they are dispatched to the customer.
  • Assemble products, create kits, or bundle items as required by specific customer orders or marketing promotions, following detailed instructions to ensure consistency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve order discrepancies, such as short-ships or mis-picks, by systematically investigating inventory records, order details, and physical stock.
  • Meet and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity and accuracy, including orders picked per hour, order error rates, and on-time shipping targets.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of warehouse processes by identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies and suggesting practical solutions to enhance workflow and reduce costs.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to a predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code (putaway).
  • Prepare and process Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and freight shipments, which includes building and wrapping pallets securely and completing the necessary bills of lading (BOL).
  • Actively participate in team meetings, daily huddles, and ongoing training sessions to stay updated on new products, operational procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Meticulously document all fulfillment activities, from receiving and putaway to picking and shipping, to ensure a clear and auditable trail for every order.
  • Handle special fulfillment projects as assigned, such as preparing subscription boxes, managing promotional giveaways, or supporting wholesale and B2B order processing.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc inventory and shipping data requests from management to assist in forecasting and reporting.
  • Contribute to the warehouse's process improvement and safety strategy by actively participating in committee meetings.
  • Collaborate with customer service and procurement teams to translate fulfillment needs and feedback into actionable tasks.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and team huddles to align on daily goals, priorities, and potential challenges.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as NetSuite, ShipStation, Fishbowl, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using RF (Radio Frequency) scanners for picking, packing, and inventory management tasks.
  • Knowledge of major shipping carrier software and portals (e.g., UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager).
  • Basic computer skills, including accurate data entry and functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks and hand trucks; forklift certification is a major plus.
  • Understanding of fundamental inventory control principles, including cycle counting, stock rotation (FIFO), and bin location management.
  • Familiarity with standard warehouse safety procedures and OSHA guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Education:

  • Associate's degree or professional certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
