Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive annual fundraising plan that incorporates diverse strategies including direct mail, digital campaigns, monthly giving programs, and peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects, building authentic, long-term relationships through personalized communication, impact reporting, and meaningful engagement opportunities.
  • Manage all logistical aspects of fundraising and stewardship events from concept to completion, including budget management, vendor negotiation, sponsorship solicitation, marketing, and post-event analysis.
  • Research, identify, and qualify new individual, corporate, and foundation funding prospects using tools like wealth screening software, online directories, and internal database analytics.
  • Author, edit, and submit compelling, well-researched grant proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs), and funding applications that align with funder priorities and organizational needs.
  • Manage and maintain the donor database (CRM, e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge), ensuring accurate and timely entry of gifts, pledges, contact information, and interaction tracking.
  • Create and manage the production of high-quality fundraising collateral and marketing materials, including appeal letters, brochures, annual reports, and email newsletters, in collaboration with the communications team.
  • Drive the strategy and execution of online fundraising campaigns, including Giving Tuesday, year-end appeals, and crowdfunding initiatives, leveraging social media and email marketing to maximize reach and revenue.
  • Implement and manage a systematic donor acknowledgment process, ensuring all contributions are recognized in a timely, personal, and meaningful manner to foster donor retention.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for all fundraising activities, preparing regular, detailed reports on progress toward goals for leadership and the board.
  • Plan and execute donor cultivation and stewardship events, both virtual and in-person, designed to deepen engagement and showcase the impact of philanthropic support.
  • Collaborate with the program team to gather compelling stories, data, and testimonials that vividly illustrate the impact of our work for use in appeals and donor communications.
  • Support senior leadership in the cultivation of major gift prospects by providing research, briefing materials, and logistical support for meetings and solicitations.
  • Oversee a portfolio of corporate and community partnerships, securing sponsorships and in-kind donations for events and programs while ensuring fulfillment of partner benefits.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including mail houses, printers, event suppliers, and fundraising consultants, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Stay current on fundraising trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continually innovate and improve the organization's development strategies.
  • Lead the planning and execution of the organization's annual fund campaign, setting goals, defining strategies, and coordinating efforts across departments.
  • Conduct prospect research to build a robust pipeline of potential supporters, creating detailed profiles and recommending cultivation strategies.
  • Manage and grow a recurring gift program by developing targeted acquisition and retention strategies for monthly donors.
  • Coordinate workplace giving campaigns and employee engagement opportunities with corporate partners.

Secondary Functions

  • Support the Director of Development with board-related fundraising activities, including preparing materials for development committee meetings.
  • Assist the finance department in the reconciliation of fundraising revenue and maintenance of accurate financial records.
  • Collaborate with the volunteer coordinator to recruit and manage volunteers for fundraising events and activities.
  • Participate in organization-wide strategic planning processes, providing insights and recommendations related to revenue generation and philanthropic trends.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • CRM Database Management: High proficiency with non-profit CRMs such as Salesforce NPSP, Raiser's Edge NXT, Bloomerang, or Kindful.
  • Grant Writing & Reporting: Demonstrated ability to write clear, persuasive, and successful grant proposals and reports for foundation and corporate funders.
  • Prospect Research: Experience using research tools like DonorSearch, WealthEngine, or Foundation Directory Online to identify and qualify potential donors.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Education:
