Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively engage and welcome every client entering the showroom, creating a warm and professional atmosphere that encourages browsing and consultation.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments and design discovery conversations to deeply understand a client's lifestyle, functional needs, aesthetic preferences, and budget.
  • Develop and maintain an expert-level knowledge of our entire product catalog, including materials, construction, customization options, and care instructions.
  • Guide clients through the showroom, providing insightful product demonstrations and compelling presentations that bring design concepts to life.
  • Create and present personalized design solutions, including furniture selections, fabric choices, and spatial layouts to meet client objectives.
  • Drive sales to consistently meet and exceed individual and team sales goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Skillfully close sales by building value, overcoming objections, and guiding clients to a confident purchasing decision.
  • Build and meticulously maintain a personal client book, implementing effective clienteling strategies for follow-up, repeat business, and referral generation.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle, from writing sales orders accurately to processing transactions and coordinating with the logistics team for delivery.
  • Provide comprehensive post-sale support, following up with clients after delivery to ensure satisfaction and address any outstanding concerns.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer service issues, working to resolve problems efficiently and maintain a positive brand reputation.
  • Clearly explain warranty information, protection plans, and financing options to clients, ensuring they are fully informed.
  • Utilize CRM and POS systems effectively to manage customer data, track sales pipelines, and process orders.
  • Collaborate with fellow sales associates and management to create a supportive and high-performing team environment.
  • Actively participate in ongoing product knowledge training, sales workshops, and team meetings to continuously enhance your skills.
  • Assist in maintaining the visual integrity and cleanliness of the showroom, ensuring it is always pristine and inspiring for clients.
  • Artfully upsell and cross-sell complementary items such as rugs, lighting, and accessories to create a complete and cohesive design package.
  • Generate new leads through networking, client referrals, and proactive outreach to the design community.
  • Process complex custom orders, ensuring all specifications are accurately captured and communicated to the production team.
  • Stay current with interior design trends, market competition, and industry news to position yourself as a knowledgeable expert.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist the visual merchandising team with floor set changes, styling, and placement of new inventory to enhance the showroom's appeal.
  • Support inventory management by participating in cycle counts and communicating stock level needs to the management team.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team by sharing customer insights and success stories that can be used for social media or promotional materials.
  • Participate in showroom events, including private sales, designer showcases, and community outreach programs.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • POS & CRM Proficiency: Experience using Point-of-Sale systems for transactions and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) for client management.
  • Sales Closing Techniques: Demonstrable ability to guide a customer to a purchase decision and overcome objections.
  • Product Knowledge Retention: Capacity to learn and master a large and detailed product catalog.
  • Interior Design Principles: A solid understanding of color theory, spatial planning, and fundamental design concepts.
