Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Proactively greet every customer with a friendly and welcoming attitude to create a positive first impression and foster a customer-centric environment.
- Accurately and efficiently operate a Point of Sale (POS) system to process a high volume of transactions, including fuel purchases, in-store merchandise, and lottery sales.
- Meticulously manage cash handling procedures, including counting the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure balance and accountability.
- Process various forms of payment, such as cash, credit/debit cards, fleet cards, and mobile payments, ensuring all transactions are secure and correct.
- Enforce all company policies and legal regulations regarding the sale of age-restricted items, such as tobacco and alcohol, by diligently and politely checking customer identification.
- Assist customers at the fuel pumps by providing clear instructions, troubleshooting minor issues with card readers or pumps, and ensuring a safe fueling experience.
- Actively engage with customers to address their questions, provide directions, and resolve any issues or complaints with professionalism and empathy to ensure satisfaction.
- Diligently restock shelves, coolers, and front-facing displays with merchandise to ensure product availability and maintain a visually appealing and organized store layout.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, checkout counter, and all customer-facing areas throughout the shift.
- Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down counters and surfaces, and cleaning the coffee and fountain drink stations.
- Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms, checking and restocking supplies like paper towels and soap on a regular schedule.
- Conduct regular security walks and monitor the premises, including fuel pumps and parking areas, to prevent theft, vandalism, and ensure customer safety.
- Brew coffee and maintain hot beverage stations, ensuring they are always fresh, clean, stocked, and ready for customers.
- Prepare and manage hot food items according to food safety standards and company recipes, ensuring quality and freshness.
- Monitor inventory levels for key products and inform management of low stock to prevent outages of popular items.
- Upsell and promote special offers, loyalty programs, and complementary products to enhance the customer experience and drive incremental sales.
- Administer the sale of state lottery tickets and scratch-offs, adhering strictly to all state regulations and age verification laws.
- Receive and check-in vendor deliveries, verifying quantities against invoices and ensuring products are stored properly.
- Manage the disposal of trash from interior and exterior receptacles to maintain a clean and inviting property.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management during shift changes to ensure a smooth transition and relay important operational information.
- Adhere to all safety and emergency procedures, including knowledge of fire extinguisher locations and emergency shut-off protocols for fuel pumps.
